Fowey to the Eddystone - 11 August 2007 [new date]

We're going to be at the Penmarlam campsite up the river Fowey from 4th-11th August and I fancy a cruise out to the Eddystone for the hell of it.
5th August sounds favourite. Maybe taking a BBQ and having a barbie at Lantic Bay on the way back. Anyone up for it?

Worth posting on here. I'm sure that some that some of the local boys would be up for it. I'm moving house that week.

Hi

we're there from the 5th to the 12th so a couple of days later and we'd be up for it, if the weather is good we could even go a bit further for a beer

Shame i usually spend 2 weeks in St Austell (pentewyn sands) around that time of year, not going this year though, lovely stretch of coastline there nos chops up quite bad on a south westerly so watch out

Try the mevagissy and Gorran haven run while your there, great coastline, we used to race the fowey to mevagissy ferry, great fun in a lumpy sea.

Eddystone

I'm away on the 5th but would come out on the 11th weather permitting - I launch at Torpoint and could meet you out there somewhere.

A question, why spend all that money on gas to visit a lighthouse when you have the Scillies in the other direction?

I fancy it! I've never seen it up close-only from a mile or so off.

I don't really want to tow the boat anywhere to launch either-I spend all year towing trailers and the Scillies are a bit far from Fowey to pay fuel for when I'll be using the boat for 9 days running...

Yep and there is no bar at the lighthouse

If the weathers right and thats a big if

Very early start cruise along the coast
or tow to a slip closer ( can't be that much further)
or even cruise along the coast the day before leave the ribs moored/berthed, taxi back early start by car then off we go, late cruise back or leave the ribs again and sort out the next day

I'd like to see this close up to (roycruse pic)

As Hugh says deffinately worth taking the fishing rods of your going out to the lighthouse. Everytime we dive it there are big bass on the rock

If you want to start from Plymouth i can help sort out a place to keep the boat in or out of the water. But most have lots of notes.

You don't have to go to the Scillies to see that (Roy's pic) is of Kynance Cove which is on the Lizard Peninsula
