France to Ribex

Hi,
a few of us are planning on crossing over by RIB for RibEx. The plan is to moor and stay in Portsmouth so that we can spend a day shopping in Portsmouth to please the ladies and another day in Cowes before the return trip. Does anyone have a suggestion for mooring and hotels that would be appropriate ? We would prefer a hotel that doesn't expect to be paid up front in case of weather preventing us from making the crossing.
