It is v. tricky, but not absolutely impossible, to change your prop at sea. Much more likely is your ability to divert to your closest harbour or even a beach, and do your change there.
So yes, carry your spare-no question.

Too right! with a sharp beam sea running, it would have been interesting... I didn't have the correct tools to do a prop change (which I will have in future!) although i did have a spare prop (huh, not much use without the spanner ) However, I do now carry a bivvi bag - as recommended by some other RIBnet members (I think it was Garygee and Stuart McNamara) and will v soon have several spare split pins and castellated nuts. Lessons learnt, and all that!
Jeff, the prop. make comes highly recommended, no names yet as I'm uncovernig a bit of an interesting story.

Apart from spare prop, nuts, spanners, split pins......you also need a block of wood or similar !!
Think about it.

Don't forget a big plastic bag to put under the prop to catch any bits/tools/etc that might otherwise drop in the 'oggin

Morning All

Just got back to work. I just want to thank all those that took part in the run to Alderney. We really enjoyed the day and it was good to meet Daniel and put a face to a name again.

Shame it was rough on the way back but hopefully everyone learnt a bit from that. I hope Paul and Kathleen arent too bruised and i hope you enbjoyed the run. I have a few aches and pains in my knees but apart from that all is well. Richard your boat looked like it was running well on the way back. I hope we didnt get too far in front but we found it much easier going making 27 knots.

So whens the next trio then. Oh and the pics are great.

Thats only because Roger kept a tight reign on you. You would have gone a lot faster with a few more beers in ya . We loved it - its nice flying through the air at 30 knots on an 8.5. Kathleen wants one now Great fun . hard getting up the next morning for the VHF course.
