Going to see USS Harry S Truman

There a largish Aircraft carrier in the Solent off Ryde at the moment.

It's called the USS Harry S Truman and has got all it's toys on the deck!

I thought I saw something like that at the weekend! Havent ventured that way round the island yet - anyone going there in the near future? I wouldn't mind tagging along.

Thanks

Ben

I'm trying to round up some folks for high tide Saturday.

Won't be back on the PC till saturday night so keep your eye out for some fellow Ribbers.

The last one I went round I couldn't get within 1/2 mile never mind 200 mtrs. Coastguard, MDP and US Navy very weary of small high speed craft. So be warned.

Three of us launch from Chichester Harbour on the high tide and will then make our way over to the carrier. We can meet you in that area.

I remember being intercepted by the local plod a couple of years ago whilst closing on a US heli carrier at Cobh. They were glad they caught us as the carrier could and would have opened fire on us. We replied that they could not do that on Irish territory to which plod replied " Do you REALLY want to argue with them?" so much for sovereignty eh.

Sure enough the deck guns track you.....kind of makes you feel uneasy

The most famous being General "Stonewall" Jackson of the US confederate army in the civil war. Killed by his own men by mistake on the way back from a recce having sussed out a plan that may have won his side the war. The only other bloke with him who knew the plan was killed too.

I guess hidden under all that armour plating and weaponry is a cosy little nuclear reactor surrounded by a few nuclear warheads.

No wonder they're a bit twitchy. Maybe they're sulking that theres no berth big enough for their little boat.

Whats the top speed for that sucker and could I outrun em?
