That was funny but could have been a catastrophe

If you do end up doing something at The Camber, I can provide (donate) pontoon mooring!

My vote would be nominally a boating lunch at the Bridge Tavern at the Camber as a straight replacement for the Jolly to the Folly. It gives a good reason for people to get the boats out, whilst still having the option to get their by land if the weather's particularly rubbish. There should be enough mooring right outside as well.

A "do" at Biff's (or anywhere else) would go down well as well - maybe a different date and it could be the old "Xmas Dinner" replacement?

An update ...

Been speaking to a couple of RIBnobbers this week about ideas and possibles . Then calling some possible venues .

The outcome is that I'm making a judegment call and postponing this until 'later in 2014' ....

We have been lucky with weather and venues for the last few years, but I have a couple of big fears this year.

1) I've left it to late for various reasons - sorry
2) Its impossible/hard to get financial commitment and timecommitment from the masses of ribbers that attend as the weather could be 'duff' for a cruise in December (even in the solent) and its a busy time anyhow.
3) Venues want a signifcant financial commitment up front for anything in December (that I was happy to fund last year as then it wasn't very significant - but this year runs to hundreds of £)
4) There has been quite a lot going on at the end of this year in the Solent area ( credit Whisper, Biffer etc )

What has been suggested is something that can add/continue momentum for the Macmillan RIB/ Round the island 2014 attendance. Whisper has some AWESOME ideas for this that I think will work very well.

So Nacho run it is in January and then 'something' a little time after to kick off 2014 with real vigour - maybe even being able to drag some of the BS/more northern members down for a weekend or Round the Island?

WATCH THIS SPACE

Of course any other December plans / cruises etc GO FOR IT as always! Or if anyone else wants to pick up the gauntlett for Jolly..........

Personally, I'd welcome an opportunity to trail down from Cheshire and join in the fun so when you're planning this please be aware that the first 'big event' oooop north next year (that I'm aware of) is the Easter Egg hunt round Angelsey/Conwy on 19th April.... which has a lot of fellow nobburs attending.

It'd be good not to clash with this date.
