VHF in Plymouth
Guys,
What ever you do do not use channels 14, 13 in or near Plymouth.
Channel 14 is the Port Control (Longroom) for the Port of Plymouth,
Channel 13 is the control for ALL naval ships from Devils Point up to practically Cargreen SC (The Dockyard).
(Dont forget anything grey will run you down as they have right of way and HMS Ocean has big bad Apache gunships)
I`ve run events in Plymouth and they are not impressed when people start chatting over an important operation say parking a nuclear submarine!
Channel 10 maybe advisable but asking Longroom when we get there is the best bet. Tel 01752 663225
Chris

Chris, Alan and others,
OK 77 (or whatever Charles finally decides) it is.
I guess I am a little disappointed though, that Reeds does not seem to mention that the MOD use 13 in Plymouth.
They DO mention 13 for Portsmouth.
Am I reading the wrong bit?

Brian,
As intrigued as you i've just had a look and the only referance i find to Ch 13 is under the traffic signal section (lights on drakes island apparently) where it mentions Port Control using Ch 13 and 14. No mention under the local bylaws or VHF sections where you would expect!

If Port Control (which I have just looked up in the Almanac) use Ch 13 and 14 - which they do, then these frequencies are out of the question. CH77 is what we will use - unless someone comes up with a good reason not to. Its still 4 MONTHS away!!

Just a small change to note.
The boat name instead of 'NO LIMIT III' it will be called 'THE BEAK'
for reasons that I will explain at a later stage.

Hello Jelly - and to everyone coming sans rib.
Everyone is welcome - just show up - I have arranged the berths and trailer accommodation as well as arranging the Invicta Hotel. The slide show and meal + drinks will be at the Invicta. You all ought to make your own arrangements for accommodation - I think the Invicta is full now. Look earlier in this thread for alternative accommodation. Weather permitting this should be a good week-end. I look forward to it. I will be incommunicado through April, back online at the end of April.
Mayflower Marina and the Invicta Hotel is the place to be on

Did the idea of badges "die"?
I think they would be valuable, nay indispensible for people to know who they are talking too......especially as the evening developes.
If you are away Charles, and think it still a good idea, I would be happy to volunteer to help produce them.

Good man, Brian!
May I suggest that if they use them, the labels for RIBnet Forum contributors also show an individual's handle as well as name. There is no way I will be able to compute name, face and handle in the bar after my normal bedtime - without a very clear prompt!
Cheers....
