Trust was never the question. I trust you, however I don't mind paying 128 pounds/night or even 250 pounds a night. Is a normal price to pay for a good hotel. However, I will wait nearer the time and we will see.

Have stayed at the Duke of Cornwall for the last couple of visits to Plymouth. Faded granduer but excellent value. You get a fabulous breakfast.
The bar closes around 1.00 am but you can drink all night via the night porter.
Evening meal is a la carte and has something for everybodies taste.
Highly reccomended by race officials and competitors alike.

UPDATE
Hello Everyone
A couple of things are falling into place in the organization of this week-end to meet all you ‘cyber ribsters’.
Marina
I have had a lengthy chat to Mr.Tony Saunders the harbourmaster for Mayflower Marina; he has been most helpful and will make every effort to accommodate all our ribs. Obviously, he would like to know precise numbers, lengths and whatever else is pertinent. It is important to start collating this information, so, please forward me your details. The other important consideration is the number of people trailing their ribs to Plymouth, and in turn launching at the slip next to the marina. He has offered to make arrangements for the safe storage of the trailers; again, numbers and lengths are important. I have negotiated a discounted rate and trust that everyone will be ‘helpful’ in providing me with their information.
Hotels
Brian Elliott has very kindly made the effort and driven down to Plymouth this morning to investigate accommodation for us. He has found a suitable hotel called the Invicta Hotel who I have telephoned this afternoon. It seems that this hotel will suit our requirements perfectly. Nice and clean, good room for our meet/slide show/dining. Lovely bar across the hall. Secure CCTV parking for 16 cars at rear. Betty and Roy Martin are the proprietors (Martin is keen on boats and engines, so will probably join us) and if you ring up and mention RIBNET they will know who you are and you will receive the discounted rate already negotiated. First come first served!! Their telephone number is 01752 664997and Hotel web-site . I have already booked my room!
There is not a whole lot more I can do at this stage but will appreciate your co-operation in confirming your attendance and Rib details.
Any comments?
ps I speak for everyone I hope, thanks for the effort Brian.

I'm sure others here would join me in Thanking Charles and Brian for thier efforts.
I've booked my room at the hotel and look forward to seeing you all in May.
Anyone wishing to hop on my boat at Exmouth or Torquay/Brixham is welcome to do so (drop me mail as obviously numbers are finite).

Greetings All . Another "Newbie" I'm afraid . I'm hoping to get my first RIB sometime in the next four months , and it's been absolutely fascinating finding the RIbnet Forum and trying to take on board all the do's don'ts and maybes of your first RIB. At the risk of boring Charles who has already heard my story , along with my son and daughter , we took the Level 2 powerboat course at Pembrokeshire Watersports early last summer. We also all did the marine VHF SRC at Southend last Autumn. All good stuff but useless if you don't go out and practice to consolidate it all. My crew are already mutineering with the Son , emmigrating to OZ , and daughter about to make me a Grandad this Summer, so perhaps I'll have to forget about the 6.3M diesel job , and find something a bit more manageable for single handed launching & recovery. So I'll be the first to admit I have everything to learn and having spoken to Charles , would like to come along to the Inaugural Ribnet "Do" at Plymouth and pick all your brains and perhaps scrounge a few rides with you guys to find out what this Ribbing thing isReally all about.

I am sure I speak for all of us when I say we will be delighted to see you there.
If you would like to come out for a ride on my boat, you will be most welcome.

Many thanks for the welcome , and offers of rides. I feel as though I am amongst friends already !
How would you suggest that I can convince my better half that jockey seats are likely to be more comfortable than a bench seat without actually giving her a sore back/backside or even a dunking ?

They are unconvinceable!! Trust me.
The RIB that I have in Greece is very fast but nooooo SHE WANTED bench seats otherwise she wouldn't come on it!!!
As a matter of fact on a GEMINI I had to change the jokey for a bench seat. Women are very funny on these things.
On the RIB that I'll be having in the UK because is a racing RIB I have 2xbucket seat plus another 2xbucket removable seats all on springs and shock absorbers. EXPENSSIVE!!!
Good luck

Two possible ways strike me.
One, get her to read the various threads on this subject on this site (use Search facility). She will either believe us or not.
Stage two (assuming One above doesn't work) is to get someone else ( not you, think about trying to teach your wife to drive a car and shudder!) to take her out on a boat with jockey seats and get them to do a modest amount of wave jumping.
If your wife is anytrhing like mine though, she will wait for this process to exhaust itself, and the point to be proven. She will then sniff, and say she has no intention of going out in the boat if it is THAT rough anyway!!

Bern,
I can't compete with the calibre of Manos and Brian's toys but you are more than welcome on a more 'budget' RIB - namely mine! It has a fairly badly designed jockey seat and i think that may be worth you experiencing vs. something like a Ribcraft jockey.
Daniel
PS: Gonna phone and book hotel in a mo...

Hotel booked, and they said they are getting VERY FULL already - amazing what a few techno-friendly RIBsters, most of whom have never met and a keyboard can acheive!
Many thanks yet again to Charles and Brian

5. Mountbatten Marina and seaplane slipway
6. Queen Anne's Battery Marina

9. Mayflower Marina (our base)
10. The Hamoaze (to the Naval Dockwards and warships)
11. HMS Cambridge naval gunnery school

First of all Bern, hope you received my e-mail. You are also most welcome to come on my rib in Plymouth. I am afraid I do not have jockey seats but 'try before you buy', every combination if possible. See you there.
Brian, I thought we were only there for the week-end, how are we going to fit this all in??

This is actually just a taster for The South West Cruise which is planned for the 24/25/26th May.
This wonderfully well organised cruise, based in Plymouth, will........no, no, mustn't. Subject for another thread!!
And anyway, with your boat you will be able to do items 1 through 10 in about 4.6 mins.

Hi Bern
I frequently launch single handed and you soon get into it.
My crew is very 'intermitent' . Sue would prefer with did our boating with Manos in the warmer greek climate
Perhaps I could send her on Holiday with Manos and family whilst I did boating, beer and birds as a single guy again
You and anyone else are welcome to go for a spin in May.
I currently have no rib mates on board that weekend so plently of room.
