can you recommend a good fish and chip shop close to a beach we Essex boys could stop at, go ashore and eat chips on the beach.
TD5 will be providing the mid morning snacks and Pimms for us on his sun deck and we've promised him a fish and chip lunch this trip out.

hehe, i like it!
Let me think, chippies. There is one in Yarmouth which used to be called (not sure if it still is) the lobster pot cafe. You will have a little bit of trouble just going in to the habour to get fish and chips though! some of the pubs might do f&c take aways (i recommend the King's head). Alternatively the only other thing I can think of is to go into to Colwell bay and swim into the shore and there is a cafe by the slip. Not sure what food they have though. Also, there are various attractions at alum bay on top of the cliffs...there must be a cafe somewhere there, again not sure about whether they would do fish and chips.
You guys could come in Yarmouth and have a pub lunch?? The habour might be slightly overwelmed with so many ribs but it should be too much of a problem, there is plenty of space. Again I recommend the King's head! A short stay in the habour would not be much at all for the small ribs. I could go and ask at the habour if they'll be ok with so many ribs, I still have a few contacts there .
Hopefully off to the needles to take some shots of scratchells bay in a bit for Pete.
hope thats a help Mr Rat
Tim

not eating any think you catch with that spear gun chips or no chips
just a quick mental note
rear locker remove flares and VHF fit in more food
consul locker remove pump repair kit and first aid kit fit in more food
under seat locker remove spare fuel tank add some more food
cool box full of food no action is required
front locker remove all ropes spare fuel tank and anchor thing get some more food in
re move child crew as weight can be added as food
on driving rib from garage the hull breaks in two due to weight of food
sit in garage and eat all the food shame to waist it

There is certainly a Chip - Oil in Cowes (near the Painter's arms)
However...if you set off from Calshot/Lee - on - Solent at 1000 you will be at the Chippy by oooh 1044 (ish) they won't even have warmed the lard up by then.

All welcome
Hi all,
This will just about be my last thread on this forum, Down on the south coast for 2 weeks tomorrow with no internet access.
With regards size Absolutely anybody with a RIB is welcome. Size is no object, 'as the actress said to the Bishop'
I shall be taking a disposable BBQ and a few bits of food, and even more drink, but I'm happy to stop at a pub on the way if we can get easy access, and I would also like to stop near the Needles and lunch on the beach there (Would make great photos). So much to do.
Lets just see who turns up and see how the time goes and more importantly how the weather treats us.
Below is a list compiled by Andy, but as you can see from reading these threads it just gets bigger and better.
Anybody unsure of where we are should be able to get us on Channel 72 or phone me on the day on 07729824838 or on the saturday on 07832271726 (but that phone is a bit dodgy at the moment)

Goodnight and goodluck
Thats it No more internet.
Looking at the forecast saturday may be better than sunday.
If the groundswell is that you want to change it then let me know on my mobile.
If not see you all sunday.
Best of luck
Nick Reis Biggles.
Looking at the list I think I have the smallest boat so should get battered about the most. At least the burgers should be cooked and waiting for me.
Honestly any major problems then please phone me.

hhhmmm, quite a bit of activity in the last couple of hours.
Pete, apologies, I have been unable to get out and take pics this eve as I got into a lengthy conversation with my dad about future career prospects. Then when I got ready to go, it was too dark! I will endeavor to get up there tomorrow afternoon after work.
If there is interest then I could let yarmouth habour know that 14 ribs would be coming in for lunch (i guess around midday) and book some tables in my fave local pub for lunch? You guys could then munch away and then head down to alum/scratchells for an afternoon swim/relax for an hour or so? Just a suggestion of course. Let me know what you think, but i would obviously need a wee bit of notice and a final decision on the pub thing from someone.
I will check this forum regually over the next couple of days.
The weather looks like it may blow up a bit for sunday, but hopefully not too much.
Cheers
Tim

So many names and callsigns to remember!
I'm launching at Haslar Robin at about 09:00 (anyone else welcome to join) then cruising down to Lee Slip for 10:00 meet.
Sorry I've seem to have let everyone down with BBQ arrangments but it just seemed a bit impractical to take all that equipement on the boat, with so many people comming from different locations a post IOW celebrationary eat and drink on the mainland somewhere seemed difficult to arrange.
I can still supply BBQ Equipement at short notice after the event and will have it and food and beer on standby if arrangements are made on the day.
Looking forward to seeing new and old faces, should be a blast.
Andy

Any more thoughts on the pub thing? I will go into Yarmouth this afternoon and sort some stuff if people think its a good idea???

If we have a 1000ish start at Lee / Calshot we are going to be at Yarmouth before 1100 - too early for lunch.
The weather looks like it may deteriorate in the afternoon - a front coming in possibly late PM Sunday. My opinion would be to crack on and get round as far as possible before a late lunch / afternoon beer in Cowes.
Given calm ish weather even at 15 knots we should be able to crack it in about 4 hours - 1400 in Cowes?
Just my 2p
Duncan

I'd agree with Duncan - let's get on with it! My interest in this event is primarily the boating and meeting Ribnetters - I have little interest in sitting in pubs all day.
