I'm sorry to disapoint you all but I can't get my hands on a cheap MOD RIB.
Thats why I've got one of the smallest RIBS on this Forum. The Germans would have called it a "Pocket RIB" in the vein of 'Gneisenau and Scharnhorst'.
If you know where we can then let me know.

As another with a 'midsize' boat (5.5m 75hp) maybe we could tag along as well? Quite happy to pootle along in good company.
Would personally prefer 8th to 15th but no big deal either way.

ps - does anybody really believe the long range forecasts?!!

"Ive got a 7m boat, it's not much longer than 5.85, can i come in that" lol!
I seemed to have hijacked the small boats trip and turned it into a small and mid size trip!
Sorry about that.

I'm up for a round Island cruise having never done it before, so if no objections to a 5.5m! Might have space for some jerry cans......just in case or even BBQ equipement.

...brilliant!! Which means Daniel's 4.5m 'pocket RIB' must be the Admiral Graf Spee

I will be on the Island with the rib in Bembridge from 30 July to 13 August.
If you plan to go on the 8th can I tag along as well? (Purely as an escort vessel, you understand - don't want to steal the thunder from the "sub 4m class )

IOW Trip
Best I get on and make some plans then.
By the way anybody know anywhere on the south side of the island to refuel and replen.
Regards Nick Reis.
PS. Now looking at 8th August due to some members stating a preference for that date.

Nick, there is nowhere on the south of the Island to re-fuel. Cowes & Yarmouth are the only places with fuel.

Date
Steve
The provisional date is now the 8th of August. The only thing that will cancel the trip now will be high winds. Sun will be a bonus and good for the piccies, but rain and cloud cover shouldn't be an issue if we are prepared. I don't think we could do it in the winds we have had recently down here. That would be dangerous and irresponsible !!!!
With regards stopping on the south side of the island thats a no go for refuelling so we will have to do it before we get to the Needles. I should be okay for fuel for the whole journey. I work it out to be 60 miles, but if we all top up at Yarmouth or Lymington then we should be alright for the whole Journey. Anybody with a thirsty boat or limited carrying capacity should then be able to make it to the next port of call I know which is Bembridge. I don't see fuel as being a major problem but its better to be prepared.
Hightower mentioned he would be in charge of the BBQ so it would be nice to find somewhere to land halfway round and have something to eat. On my one visit to the beaches many years ago on the south side they seemed pretty sandy and quiet and look good for an invasion by a flotilla of RIBs, although on the charts there are some nasty ledges and rocks to watch out for.
Anybody have previous knowledge of landing on the South side of the IOW.
Regards Nick R.

Hi All
Is the plan to go down, meet up on the 8th and do the island or are you all planning to overnight either on the island or mainland ?
If it's just for the day might come down and meet you for the run around !!
