Drysuits
This might seem like a stupid question being hot and sunny at the moment. But will anybody be wearing drysuits on sunday. I have one but will be in shorts and T Shirt. Anybody recomend a drysuit for the south side of the island or should I just stick with summer order ???
Regards Nick Reis.

Biggles .....There are a few of us Launching from Calshot and we were going to come over to you, but if your comming our way we may as well hold on and wait for you to get to us, so far its myself, Andy Beach and and my friend Chris parker.
As soon as your on the water call me up on channel 72 call sign TANGO and confirm what your doing.
See you out there.

Food
As Hightower was saying he is not keen on taking the barbeque. Is the plan for us all to take disposable ones and stop for lunch somewhere round the island?
I dont think doing the trip in one foul swoop is going to be easy we are going to need time to rest and recoup/regroup.
PS Disposable barbies dont rattle!!!
See you all sunday

Richard,
If I come along - and with the weather as it is there is every chance - I will be coming from Hamble. It would be simpler to meet up with you guys at Calshot than to drag down to Lee. What time would be good to meet off Calshot to wait for the others and what is a good, easy to find place - I've never been into Calshot - normally just passing.
Duncan

Duncan i've never launched from calshot either and will be relying on my friend down there, he's said that as its spring tides at the moment we wont have a problem launching from calshot, my boat will be spending the weekend in the activity centre's locked compound, i'd suggest getting on Sunday and calling me up on channel 72 (call sign Tango) and seeing where we are, i've checked boat launch and it doesn't look like there is much around there so it should be easy to spot us if your heading in the right direction for us, look out for three Avons, 1 orange and two grey.

I was down at Calshot last weekend. There are a few bouys just off the slipway that a group of RIBs were rafted up to .If you are coming from hamble /lee on solent The slipway is right at the east end of calshot spit on the fawley side of the life boat jetty - could be a usefull meet up spot ?

Hi
Agree with Philip, although i've not been there before it shoulds like a good plan, we were planning to head across to meet up with the others from Calshot but it seems they are going anti clockwise and Calshot will be there first reference point, so i'd suggest we (the clashot lot) meet get and aim to be on by 09:30, call up Biggles and tell them our intentions are to wait for them at Calshot, first thoughts are it will take them 20 minutes or so to cross from HMS D to Calshot so we wont have to rush about too much !!
If the worst comes to the worst and we miss them then we'll stay in contact and catch them at the needles or yarmouth.
Richard

Do you mind if a slighty bigger rib comes along too ?
Should have space for extra fuel cans if anyone is worried about space or weight.
If its really flat calm how about lunch just south of the Needles on the little beach tucked right in against the cliffs there. Called Sun "something" Would have to be flat calm but good for snorkeling and swimming as its out of the tide and a real sun trap under the white cliffs.

tis called scratchels (not sure of the spelling) bay. A few nasty rocks in there and I have seen, from the top of the cliffs, a fishing net stretched across the bay....watch out!
you will also get some swell coming in which could be problematic when trying to get from boat to beach, especially since there seems to be lots of fallen boulders just under the surface.
Never been there in a boat but this is from standing on the view point and looking down!
Alum bay could be a better bet, although it maybe crowded (or it will be crowded!) but it is nice and deep close in. Only a gravel beach though.
Hope that helps.
Tim

To be honest with you all i dont think this should be restricted and anyone who wants to come along they should be made welcome, yes the outset was for some small boats to go around in company and safety but in my experience there is always different sizes and lenghts of boat on these types of cruise, and it just makes for a better day, after all the more ribnet members out there the better the pics will look on Monday morning
If were going snorkling i'mm have to make sure i bring my snorkel and wet suit
maybe i'll bring my spear gun too

Thanks guys, see you Sunday. Think the Jackeens are about too.
Tim, any chance of some digi photos from the cliff top looking down before Sundays cruise ? I was thinking of achoring off and swimming ashore with the BBQ.

Pete,
I could give it a go. I might pop up there tonight if there is going to be a sunset.
If you guys are thinking of stopping for a while on the NW coast (alum, totland, colwell...all good beach for a bbq and a swim, although the sea breeze will tend to blow straight in and they all may be busy!) I may be tempted be buzz round in my little flatacraft to say hi. I could bring a donut and wakeboard too if wanted. Can't Guarantee anything though so I don't at all expect anyone to wait for me or make arrangements to stop in a certain place!
If a final decision is made as to where you guys will stop then I might pop over. Or, I might go up to the view point at the needles and take some pics of you all blasting through. In which case I will wave and whistle and jump up and down in a random and frantic manner!
If you have any other questions about places to stop (I know a lot about west wight beaches ), or anything you think I might be able to help with then I'll be glad to help!
Cheers
Tim

Just seen your edit pete. Swimming with a BBQ?! assuming its a disposable one, I think this may prove problematic when you come to light it ! Alternatively, I could parachute some BBQs off the cliff!
