Isle of Wight Festival - Friday 13 to Sunday 15 June 2008

Who's up for the yearly jaunt? We'll be over there on the 14th-gotta see Iggy and the Stooges,Ian Brown and the Sex Pistols. Tides are a bit better this year too so should be ok to stay right to the end.

I'll be there on the last day on a Motor Cruiser; think I might get better visibility from the Flybridge!

I've got tickets :-)

Have been persuaded to shell out for some tickets so will be there all 3 days - commuting from Hamble daily by RIB - GF won't do camping.

Guess I need to just sort out a shuttle bus / taxi from Cowes up to the site.

Looks like a fantastic line up.

If it helps Sally water taxi channel 6 or Folly Water bus channel 69 both run from Cowes to Festival

Your best bet would to go to Island Harbour and walk from their as it is not too far. With regards to overnighting then if it is camping you are looking for I cannot help.

Hi, we are hoping to R.I.B over to the Isle of Wight for the festival, does anybody know the best option for overnighting i.e camping, close to the river where to moor ect? any decent pubs close by would also be of value!

I was down there this afternoon dropping water taxi customers off at Island Harbour. Was a bit irritated as had a chat with them last week and they said they were happy for us to do drop-offs if we paid 50p per person. It would seem they have decided to cash in on the event and are now charging £2 per person! So beware, if you are planning on ribbing down to Island Harbour or getting a lift from someone you will have to pay to get dropped off.

I assume Jimbo wil extend an invitation to all to use the heads on his gin palace ,Mrs M would be very pleased and may send you another cheque Jimbo!
I imagine the exit from Medina on Sunday will rival Cowes fireworks departure with plenty of idiots heading home.

It was just dropping off on the outer pontoon. They've got someone "posted" on the pontoon to collect the money

I would be pleased to, if I can get the prop sorted in time. Unfortunately, the boss man ran her aground on a Day Skipper course last week, so I'm hoping for parts from Volvo asap!

Sorry I missed your call John, I'm on the water every day now until the end of the month, so either first thing in the morning, or this sort of time at night!

IOW Festival - Sunday 15th

Am going over tomorrow from Lymington, anyone else thinking of going? Low water is at about 1500 at the Folly Inn, so aiming to arrive well before that and depart early evening.

For those that went over today (Sat) what was it like from the river??

what was it like saturday

Just back from taking 10 to festival. went up river to Island Harbour at 3pm. One hour from slack at low tide had just 1 metre BELOW on their pontoon despite almanac stating 1.6 at low, river busy with yachts four alonside each pontoon, busiest I have seen it for a while. Folly looked busy as usual but some mooring just about left for RIBS.
Dont forget that the Island Pontoon charging each person who disembarks on their pontoon £2 ven if boat leaves straight away
Enjoy

Ian did you do your life jacket demonstration on the town quay pontoon, just by the redjet terminal.
I only ask as I was standing on the same pontoon at the time!
