Jersey & Aldeney Regatta - Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 August 2008

Morning Everyone,

Due to the great British Weather we canceled the previous trip to the Channel Islands.

Now we have decided to put it back on the Calendar and combine 2 events.

We will leave on the 7th August and head to Jersey, stopping at St Peters Ports etc on the way.

8th August we will visit Minquies and Chausay.

9th August we will head to Alderney for the Regatta weekend which Jon Adlard has organized.

This should be a great trip and fingers crossed for the weather this time.

Cheers

Julian

You need to book for 2 nights, 7th and 8th of August then the 9th and 10th we will be camping in Alderney.

Hope that helps.

There's only one campsite in Alderney, and AFAIK you can't book moorings. If they run out of visitors buoys you just raft up against someone else of a similar size. www.alderney.gov.gg

Morning Folks,

Here is a link to the Alderney website which gives details of the Regatta week and accomodation details etc.

The campsite is filling up quickly so book as soon as you can, Only £5 per night etc and you can hire tents if needed.

Lets hope the weather is as good as today.

Cheers

Jersey & Alderney 2008

Morning Ribbers,

I spoke with the campsite yesterday and they are getting very busy for the weekend of the 9th August due to the Regatta etc. Below are details of the campsite for those who have not booked yet.

This is the only site on the island where camping is permitted. Situated in a superb location, behind the sand dunes of beautiful Saye Bay, just two minutes from Corblets and Arch Bays and a 10 minute walk from Quesnard Lighthouse and the Alderney Golf Club, it offers all the facilities for the perfect, relaxing camping holiday. To reach the town of St. Anne or Braye Harbour, take a taxi or if you prefer your independence, why not hire a car or bicycle? More details on this website page “Island Transport” Campsite amenities include: Ladies and Gents toilets, heated showers, wash basins and shaver/hairdryer points, on-site laundry service, dish washing room, cold water points, public telephone, a shop selling basic groceries, confectionery and sweets, and access to microwave cookers.

Tariff:
£5 adults to £2.50 children - per night
Contact Details:
The States Camp Site Operator, Mrs Jayne Capazario, 8 Clos C
tel: +44(0)1481 822556
fax: +44(0)1481 822436

Roy,

I think Hightower, maybe Andre and I are hoping to go over on Saturday, returning Sunday. Maybe Andy Moore too, but looks like he's dropping out...

http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=25529

Nothing definite arranged yet though, I hope to be thinking about it this week, as I'm now off work till August 12th :-)

I'm going to book campsite fr myself tomorrow if there is still space...

Would be more than hapy to be running over there with you You have my number.
