Jersey Coastguard Station Visit
Not exactly a cruise but...
I've just spoken to the guys at Jersey Coastguard and they have very kindly agreed to give RIBnet members and friends a tour of the station and talk about the various aspects of their work, the equipment they use etc.
Number of visitors is a max of around 10 so plenty of room for partners/friends etc. Date is TBC at everyones convenience but evenings are best for them and probably us too.
This should prove very interesting as well as educational to anyone who operates a VHF, the CG guys welcome interest in their work by the public so it would be great so see people asking lots of questions and getting involved, I wouldn't want them to feel like they were wasting their time.
So put your names down below if you fancy it, and I'll get back to them with numbers in a few days and arrange a date for sometime in the new year

Put us down for 2 spaces please (think you knew that already though )
Were you going to suggest we all make a donation to go towards Air Search or something similar?

What a great idea. Put me down for two (Mrs GJ0KYZ will come along; it doesn't involve going out on the boat).

These are great visits - I did one here. Just hope that there isn't a flap on, 'cos you'll get turfed out

Yep, I think we should have a little whip round beforehand, probably for CI Air search, we all know the RNLI are rolling in it

I was thinking dates are going to have to coincide with when you're over, you'll have to let me know when

Impossible, we can't be in two places at once

The old one was a bit like that, an old nazi observation tower perched on top of a cliff although great from a visual point of view! Cash has been flowing a bit more freely recently, 40k odd just spent on this

Yep, we went round Falmouth last year just as they had a big shout. It was all calm and the bloke was talking to us about stuff then suddenly it all went a bit mental and we just got told to bugger off (group of CCF cadets )
The funniest bit was when they told us about the incidents they had had involving several Landrovers and a cliff... perhaps Mollers would care to enlighten you further
Oliver (sorry, wrong account)

I'll mention that to him and you'll be able to prepare for the clip around the ear when you're over here next summer.

They've actually cut the course out now, no more FAA2 (Fleet Air Arm Aquaint) was based at Culdrose and the best way was actually to fly in so we did
Going to do another course on based on Bristol this summer, did some gliding last year, maybe the Warfare course or something The ones at Jupiter look good too - thats the small boat base I think.

I think I've included everyone concerned in a text I just sent but...
The visit is arranged for this monday evening (24th Jan). We didn't specify a start time but lets say 7pm unless it's a problem for anyone.
Robin will be on duty.
Martini x2
Malthouse x1
GJ0KYZ x2
Erin x2
Zeus Faber x1?
Anyone I missed?

Nope, that sounds about it. Though I can ask another 2 ribbers I know who might be interested if you'd like to make up numbers. Where exactly do we meet/is their office?

Looks like we've got plenty tbh
If we all meet in the carpark by the cafe on Albert pier, when we're all there (except Karl) we'll get buzzed in through a side door
