May I offer an idea for next year?

How about a Jaunt to the George or a Yuletide Yomp to Yarmouth .....

Brilliant, great organisation, and a fun (dark) run back to Poole. Only took two wrong turns so quite a result. Thanks to all.

Simon.

Great day, thanks PeterM for the organising; good to see so many boats and crew there. Hopefully I might have some decent video footage which I will post later.

You'll be parking at the yacht haven and staying at the anchor inn then?

Have been watching this thread with interest as my last visit to the Folly was 45 years ago. Glad everyone had a good time. I am old so time for bed.

I was wondering about that! We heard you tell David that you taking the inshore route, and we were catching you as we came around Hurst Point, also taking the inshore route, with the intention of running with you back to Poole.

Then just before Milford, you seem to take a hard left and head out to sea?? We stayed inshore and had a relatively smooth trip

Great day! special thanks to David & Ginny for letting me cadge a lift. Here's a quick edit of the video footage - Not that great I'm afraid - I think I need a 'steadycam'

Perhaps he got into the spirit and decided to give Alderney a go! Anyway, wherever he went, his boat was all tucked up by the time we got back to Parkstone with Avocet (in the dark)

My money's on him seeing the silhouette of St Aldhelm's Head and, in the dark, thinking it was the end of Hengistbury Head necessitating a sharp change of course to the south to get round it. Certainly, I nearly made that mistake yesterday but checked my chartplotter first!

A pleasure to have you along but was it really that rough?!!! Videos normally make it look flatter than it was: no wonder Ginny was worried about her back!

Thanks again to PeterM for organising the day.

I'm not on the Folly food list, so will be hunting for scraps falling off the table. I need to lose a few pounds anyway.
Hope you have recovered from your trip with us. Good to meet up and ta for the minces
