Kingsbridge / Hope Cove - Easter

Hi,

I've sort of found a last minute deal staying somewhere called Hope Cove, near Kingsbridge in Devon for Easter Sunday. Does anyone know it / have any recommendations ? Is anyone around that neck of the woods that wants to meet up ?

Thanks
Sharon

I have been to hope cove, its a small quiet village and you launch off the sandy beach.
I liked it there.

Yep beach launch go round to ramalles cove if it's fine go in with the boat and have a picnic 25years ago we dived the cove there use to be cannon still on the seabed which you could see from the boat lots of artefacts found coins etc it has a sad tale the ship was washed into the cove with all hands lost its said that the seagulls are the spirits of the crew that fly in the cove if I remember right

It's just round the corner from Salcombe - a perfect estuary for exploring.

Nick Hearne is down that way iirc.

I have launched at Hope Cove
IIRC there is a harbour master and launching fee.
Its very popular in the summer, and parking a car can be tricky let alone a trailer.
I launched off the slipway at the end of the village but was a chew
getting people to move off the slipway while trying to reverse the trailer down it!
There are a few submerged rocks to watch out for.
The harbour master will let you know where they are.
Also pick your day as the slipway is not protected and gets some wave action
when the wind is up, which can make recovery a little interesting.
If I was in your position, I wouldn't launch anything other
than a SIB at Hope Cove, and would take a RIB to Batson creek in Salcombe
to launch and then just take the boat round to Hope Cove.
Its a great part of the world though - am sure you will have fun.

Batson looks nice, will give that a go, thanks. There's a couple of previous threads about the area which are quite helpful too. Hoping to miss the worst of the traffic by driving down this afternoon and playing out tomorrow. ;-)
