Lap of IOW - Saturday 15th January

Weather permitting (which looks very promising) a few of us based in Portsmouth are planning on doing a anticlockwise lap around IOW this weekend with a fuel stop in Yarmouth for breakfast. We will be leaving from Eastney in Portsmouth (time to be arranged yet)

Would anyone be interested in meeting up with us? If there is more interest I will get a temporary WhatsApp group set up with more details on times ect and for everyone to stay in contact on the day 👍🏼

I done a lap last year and it was around 63 miles.

If you've got winter sunshine and plenty of fuel, probably best going clockwise. Visibility for lobby pots better with the sun at your back. Depends if you prefer breakfast or lunch at Yarmouth

We'll probably be up for this but would prefer clockwise. Weather forecast is certainly looking good at the moment.

I’m happy to go clockwise, that’s what I done last time so fancied a change 🤣
But if everyone would prefer clockwise really makes no difference to me, I have a few spare fuel cans if anyone needs some also 👍🏼

We're good for fuel thanks (190L tank). I would suggest meeting up at Nomans Land Fort at 1100ish. That should get us to Yarmouth for lunch comfortably, then a nice run back through the Solent.

Good to see that you're in Miles. Having thought about it, I now think that meeting up with the Portsmouth guys at Nomansland Fort would be better at 1030. Will get us all to Yarmouth for 1230ish.

Miles, if you're launching from CHS we should aim to RV at 1000 off Hamble Point.
VHF ch72.

We're looking forward to it as WX is looking really good.

No man’s Land for 10:30 it is 👍🏼
Will be bringing the drone so ideally want to get some good photos and videos in Freshwater bay & at The Needles.

There will be 3 Ribs heading from portsmouth, potentially more still waiting on confirmation from a couple of others.

Well, that was a truly great day out in brilliant conditions and fantastic company. Definitely one of our best days out on the water. Reminds me of why we don't put our boat away for the winter

We took quite a lot of Gopro footage so once Sarah has edited it into a mini video I'll post it up. Can't wait to see everyone else's too, especially Ryan's drone footage.

We did think that the newly reopened King's Head was excellent, both food, atmosphere and service. Highly reccomended.

Perhaps next time we'll try anticlockwise Ryan, and have breakfast at the Wheatsheaf

Thanks to everyone that joined along today and made it a brilliant day! Conditions where perfect for boating at flying!

Was good to meet a few of you on here, hopefully we can arrange a few more days out in the future. I'm definitely up for trying anticlockwise with breakfast on the way round.

Looking forward to seeing some of the other footage, hope everyone enjoys these few photos from today and i will get working on a video with the rest of the footage.

I have a lot more photos on social media maybe add me on there for the rest Instagram - ryatfield, facebook -Ryan Atfield

Great day out thanks all

I didn’t get too many photos but I’ll give them a quick edit and throw them up later.

Have you been out to the Maunsell Forts? I went out and explored them couple years ago and that was a good day out. Maybe we could arrange a day out up near you at some point. Would probs launch at whitstable and meet you in the middle, if enough interest I will create another thread.
