Launch Mallaig, Skye, Around St Kilda, Around Lewis, Recover Mallaig

Please only consider in RIBs over 6m with sensible fuel range.

I plan to camp and its around 400 - 500 nm.

Jono

I was up there recently Jono. The road to the Isles near Mallaig has been upgraded, making the last few miles much easier for towing.

my type of trip

Hi Jono
I am pleased to see it is not just me who thinks 'out of the box'.

We have been on West Coast a couple of times already this year and may have our boat back 'down south' by your planned cruise date.

If things change we would love to join you. and will update accordingly.
Where are you planning to stop/camp?

cheers for now
Paul

Mallaig

Just back from Mallaig area , the slip at mallaig is not the easiest to use as it is ver narrrow and has a sharp drop off. We recovered ( 7m Humber)at about half tide and it was not easy even with a Discovery as the bottom half of slip is very slimy with weed.We launced via a HIAB off a landing craft Spanish John which was simple if a little nerve wracking !
James the harbour master is very helpfull and can arrange a crane which would be good if there was a group of boats £60 each way when I used it last October. There is a good looking slip at Morar which I have not used also full yard facilities at Arisaig .
Watch out for the local seal in Mallaig harbour he is very keen on food and not shy about getting it ! I nearly lost my hand and fish and chips !
Cruising area is just fanatstic with crystal clear water and no real hazards compared to Solent !
Visit Inverie and the Olde Forge pub the remotest in GB where Ian will allow you to use his moorings free if you eat in the pub ! great food and drink with impromptu music at times. Free camping on Long beach area too.
Wish I could join you guys but customers seem to want marquees in the best months of the year!
