We're heading for Poole for Saturday night (from Southampton).
If we're early enough we'll try and track you guys down.
I think Saturday's going to be a bit lumpy with the forecast wind F5 gusting 7!
(We'll be in the Shearwater rather than the Searider.)

contingency plan if conditions too windy to stay inside the harbour, which is still a large area to have a play.
well keep watching the wind situation, not being expert what is TOO strong for sibs??
at the moment predict force 5 gusting force 7

Without shelter I'd suggest thats too strong . Even in a boat like Avocet has a F7 can become very interesting at times depending on if there is any shelter . In the forecast you 'might' get lucky with a bit of north in it ....
Matt - what time are you & David headingout ? I might leave my Avon in the water friday night and be about on Saturday in and about the harbour and try and catch you.
Trevor - likewise may well look out for you into Poole

OK - To make things easier - let's set VHF Channel 8 as our working channel for the weekend. I'll monitor 8 (and 16 as usual) when I'm in the area.

Tides mean that Oscarguitar and us (with Matt H and his other half on board) can exit the marina from around 9.45am which is what we're planning to do. I'm already fuelled and Oscarguitar is fuelling up tomorrow in readiness.
With regards the wind, the run to Lulworth from Portland isn't very far and once inside the cove is protected from anything but a southerly. There is, however, a long reach of unprotected sea between St Aldhelms and Portland across which an easterly wind can build the waves. The more north there is in the wind, the more protection there will be from the land. I suggest that sibbers stick their noses out of Portland harbour and see what its like. A contingency plan might be just to go round to Weymouth.
Will be monitoring VHF CH08. Trevor, assuming you're staying the night in Poole Quay Boat Haven do you fancy meeting up in the evening for a drink/meal in Poole?

Hi Dave - yes - Plan A is to stay at Poole Quay. It will probably be me and Katie, and we were planning on a Chinese - probably the City Bay Views unless you can suggest a better one?
Meeting up for dinner sounds good.
Let's set a time on Saturday once we know where we are.
Anyone else in the area is welcome to join us.
