I'll be there if you are!
..... but, either way, count me in out of Poole on a day basis (no roughing it that close to home!).

Well if you dont mind having a nasty hard bottomed Rib along, I fancy a trip to Lulworth as well. Same as Avocet though, own bed is too close to warant staying over.

Portland to Lulworth is completely straightforward with no dangers, you don't even need to worry about hi-speed cats out of Weymouth at the mo either.
It's only 7 miles so 20 minutes at 20 knots - easy

a little peace of mind for those concerned, thannks Martini

Hi!.....let me just say its not MY trip, its OUR trip, its a sibfest so open to sibs, although ribs are welcome (me included) . the last IOW sibfest was brilliant fun. The bigger ribs I felt added a sense of security, as some of the trip was quite rough ( right Jessk9!) , and the currents extreme!
we are dependent on weather, on the day if you dont feel the weather is suitable you make the decision not to go. That said I have launched at Portland Harbour many times, and as it is walled it is sheltered, so it would have to be bad not to be able to have a bit of fun in the harbour.
How far, how long....i'm told 7 to 8 miles and thats 30 min at 15 mph which is quite sedate (Matth with a 3.8 Bombard and 15hp yam I reckon was cruisin at 20mph). but we wont leave anyone behind.
I felt on the IOW sibfest it would have been even better if more had camped and shared a beer or two!
the campsite rang me today and they have availability for that weekend, they can accomodate boats, and they are ok with rinsing the engines after use if needed.

splendid we will mark it in the calender.... we can storm `the cowboys pontoon` in numbers lmao ..agreed it does add a sense of security to have some ribs there.. if it looks a bit choppy we can always lark about the bay so should be good to go

Poole powerboat race
I'm running the Poole powerboat race, the start is 12.00 on May 27th at Bournemouth Pier, the smaller boats are racing lap around that area, but the bigger boats go to the Needles, then Portland before return to the pier, so if you would to help around Lulworth around 12.30 until 13.30 please pm me.
