Lundy Trip
Looking to get a trip to Lundy in the diary sooner than later this summer.
Anyone got plans to go? be good to do it with some company so if any one is up for this please let me know so we can get a date in the diary.
Any advise from any locals on where best to launch, and park up appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Great, how about pencilling in a late July trip, w/end of 25th July, and firm up a little later on.
sounds like you guys have done it before, so I'd welcome your suggestions on where to launch etc.
I expect I'll be making a weekend if it.
Cheers
Mark

The easiest option is to launch from Appledore, nice launch ramp with good parking for car and trailer. It's about 19nm from Appledore to Lundy.
Once at Lundy you can drop people off on the ferry pontoon then moor onto one of the buoys off the beach and swim in. There's a campsite by the pub.

End of July would probably suit me...we'd most likely launch from Watchet and do an overnighter.
At that time of year camping is no problem
Aroun 60nm miles each way makes for a nice run and lots of sights...and potential wildlife.

Great - I've cleared the weekend 25/26th July. Probably best if I launch at Appledore as per Chris, as I'd struggle to fuel that distance of 120nm.
Up for camping, will make a good trip.

Anyone interested doing this from South Wales? Slips at Swansea, Burry Port and Tenby areas.
Possibly meet off Carmarthen bay and then rendezvous with group from the English side of the channel, anyone interested this side of the channel? Weather permitting

Hi
Wont be able to make it this weekend, will try again probably now in September, as no working Rib.
boat broke down off IOW yesterday, had my first tow, and abandoned rib at bembridge, and did our own version of 'planes, trains and automobiles' to get home.
Yam HPDI's are great when they work but hard to work out where the problem really is....

Anyone fancy a lundy trip this year? Late spring /early summer. Most likely camp on the island a couple of nights. Head from Appledore.

Will do! Just to expand on the trip, I am planning on doing the trip in an aerotec 420 which at the end of the day is a sib, albeit one of the better performing ones. So it'll be a short notice trip as I'll be scanning the weather and surf forecasts for the best window. Out of school holiday/bank holidays it's not usually necessary to book the campsite any further ahead than 24 hours. The boat will be 2 up and I'll probably be making no more than 15 mph with us and the camping gear and fuel.
So if you are ok with dawdling along then great! I will scan the local tide book and pick out a list of Fridays & Saturdays with a.m. High tides.
Cheers
Simon

No problem, I have a couple of people who want to do some sea cliff climbing there who want to come along too. The problem for me has always been a) not having done it before so being apprehensive about taking others who have not been on a rib before and b) getting the organisation surrounding camping etc sorted out!
