I nearly did Brian, but then the clouds came over just like the Met Office predicted, and the breeze picked up - an hr trip on my own with unknown sea conditions wasn't really what I'd wanted.
Since I had only been upto Ramsey once before in fog with Bern Hanreck, I was unsure, so waited till yesterday, when I was able to take my sister up who seemed quite happy driving whilst I sat at the back of the boat having my lunch and taking a few dozen pics
We had a challenging time going through Jack Sound on the way up nearly getting stuck in a large whirlpool at one point, the gps was showing 1knot ahead, yet water speed was around 12knots - great stuff. The sea was completely flat all the way upto Ramsey from Skomer with the North wind being just a light breeze. Took around 25mins to get there from Skomer I'd guess at around 24knots most of the way. I was sort of hoping for some more fun at Ramsey, but we were on the wrong side of the tide by 3hrs apparently so the bitches weren't at all spectactular. Infact, it was more interesting as we approached Ramsey Sound with some waves upto around 1metre in height, and whirlpools both large and small on the other side of some of the waves. Although I have taken a load of pics, the camera doesn't really do it any justice.
Before I upload all the pics to my website, I'd better put one of them on the gallery for the competition to see if anyone recognises where it is (Richard B included!!).
