The following is lifted from a recent post on the above Facebook page.

"Counting down to Lifeboat Day now, hope this weather lasts !!!!!. Have you all got the date in your diary, Saturday 10th August. Come and see Kiwi in action. Please remember though, no water bombs this year, we don't want to be in bother with the environment guys and gals."

Not seen any list of attendees gaining momentum but there weren't many last year and the weather was great. Few incidents like towing upturned jetski's to the beach but a good day had by all and a great spectacle when the lifeboat blasted away from the slipway almost sinking the small boats.

I should be coming across Friday morning for a possible run out in the afternoon.

Travelodge booked for the Saturday and looks like Fu's could be the target for the Saturday evening meal so that's me +1 if any pre-booking needs doing.

Looking forward to a great day.

Never done this before!

Hi everyone,

If we launch and recover at Chris's what sought of mileage would we be doing for the day as I am trying to figure out how much fuel I will need?

Also as I have never done the menai straights before I was wondering if anybody was planning to be going through the straights from Chris's on the 27th or 28th of this month weather permitting as I would like to follow somebody through so I can get the passages / local knowledge?

P.S. I can't go out this weekend as the tubes need repairing by an expert and not a novice like myself!

Thanks

Gareth

Hi Si,
good to hear you and Andrew? are coming over again, hopefully it will be another great day out
from recent experience Fu's is very busy over the weekends, I guess will get even busier during the school holidays, so I think pre booking would be a good idea, we went last weekend and food was great, still stuffed from the banquet

hi Gareth,

approx return distance from Ty Calch to Moelfre and back to Ty Calch is 50nm.

not sure about 27th / 28th yet, but as Jeff has mentioned, don't worry too much about going through the Straits as we will be together, we can always pull up just before the bridges and describe the options. don't worry too much about the Straits, there is plenty of opertunity to enjoy some great water, and its different every time you go depending on tides and weather, great spot

good luck with the tubes, let us know how you get on with them

ah, red leader, we're in a convoy I guess the sand bank magnet will be well deployed if you leading us all through then have you packed your smooooooooothest file for prop repairs when we get to Moelfre

n don't forget, it's a 150 ermintrude, not a yammie 2 smoke, jus watch that fuel gettin guzzled

Not long now!

Well I have now booked the campsite at Tyn Rhos thanks to Chris for his recommendations!

Tubes are now fixed thanks for Chris and Jeff's help!

Is anybody launching from Chris's this Saturday (27/7/13) as I'm hoping that somebody will look after my wife's horse and would like to go through the motions and get to know the area/straights etc.

The main reason I want to do this is I'm taking friends with us on Moelfre lifeboat day and want to look like captain competent and not captain chaos

Natalie, as mentioned at the weekend do you want to join us on saturday the 27th?

Gareth

that's great news, guess you will be travelling to Caernarfon on the Friday and back home on the Monday, we will try do something similar so should be around for a pint on the Friday evening, I'll pm you my mobile no.

I'm sure Si and Andy will want a run out on the Sunday as well, so it should be a great weekend maybe if the weather is good we could try for round the island on Saturday as Moelfre isn't too far short of half way anyway
