You got back from the pub quick, gearbox must have behaved itself then . Was going to make some comment about you having nothing better to do and getting straight onto Ribnet, but then realised that'd make make me a hipocrite seeing as I'm here as well
If the weather's good on Christmas day, I may well be up for it. Would be worth the agro of launching IMV.
Figured you wouldn't be far behind me! I'll kind of be laid up for xmas but having said that I'd do anything to get of family duties
The forecast hasn't really improved today (4-5 SE, wind-against-tide on a 39 footer) so Im going to pull out myself. Pity really as I was quite looking forward to going once more before winter. Still, it's been a good year (trips to Avranches, Pontaubault and six to MSt.M) so I'm happy.
Anyone fancy a trip to Mont St. Michel either Christmas Day (early start, better tide) or Boxing Day (later start, lower tide)? Mrs GJ0KYZ's already gone to the anti-santa for Chistmas so I'm going to be on my own.
Mini Martini's far from ready for the water but the mother ship's still in the marina. My plan was to haul her out xmas eve and spend the next ten days tearing in to my electronics.
If the weather was really good like today then I could put all my gear back onboard and go to MstM, although I'll still need to blast the weed off first.

If the wx holds then I'll put my boat on the blocks Christamas Eve as I need to clean my hull as well. The forecast favours Christmas morning at the moment; we'd be back in Jersey by 10:00.

10.00 as in am? Not stopping for the day?
Which blocks are you going on, South pier? Do you need to book them? That's probably easier for me than going back on the trailer.
Technically I don't finish work til the end of the 24th but I've done everything that needs to be done so I've got 2 days to clean the hull, fuel up and load all my gear back on the boat.
Current forecast is NE F5 in the morning dropping through the day to E F3
Very tempted to join you, but not sure I'll be allowed out on Saturday. Though if I plan this right and make a complete mess of the preparations on Friday I may get banished from the house and told to stay out of the way
Don't mind helping with loading or cleaning on Friday if either of you would like some help.

If I'm going on my own then I won't stay but if others are coming along then I'd like to spend the day there. We would get off at about 20:30. Regarding the blocks, yes I'll go on the ones at South Pier. You normally have to book but no one will be using them on Christmas Eve I would have thought.
I'd rather go for the day, I'd like to climb to the top and maybe take a walk to the barrage as well.
I might just plonk myself on the blocks friday morning as well then
I wonder how many eateries would be open on the 25th? I could quite easily spend most of the day guzzling hot choccie and noshing on pastries. The barrage is really interesting (see vid) and the abbey will certainly be open. I'd like to go to mass; I'm not into god or anything, it would just be cool to arrive by sea as a pilgram.

Won't this be your last Christmas as a free man? You should get a pass from the Captain and come along.
Yes indeedy, it will be ( or depending on your personal viewpoint). But her indoors has said she'd like to go too, which just won't be possible on Christmas Day unless the relatives don't mind cooking their own dinner at ours!
I do very much like the idea of 'a pilgrimage' however. Perhaps we should get some suitable attire ready for a later date and do it in traditional style.
I fuelled up this morning and went for a quick blast up the small roads to charge the batteries...bloody hell it's cold out there!
It's effing cold and that's for sure. I phoned the tourism office at MSt.M just now. The abbey is closed on Christmas Day but is open for Mass at 12:15. More importantly, the restaurants and shops will be open as usual. Do you still want to go Matt?
And just wait till Martini throws a bit of spray over you as well.
I'll come down with a blowtorch and an ice axe to meet you on your return Sat pm shall I? I reckon you might be frozen in a standing position unable to remove your grip from the wheel and throttle. The windchill is bad enough stationary, let alone doing 25-30kts.
True to their word, the preparations are underway.
The plan now is to go and come back on the morning tide. Weather permitting we'll leave La Collette at about 07:15, get to Mont St. Michel at 08:45, stay for 40mins and then be back in time for lunch at around 11:30. Keith - why don't you come along as well? KarlT is coming now.
