Hello everyone
I'm a newbie to the site and Humber P4VWL has suggested I take a look at the cruise you are all planing. Although I have been following the thread for a few weeks now, the main corncern I have is lack of experience on the water (20) hours and the engine size of my boat (60hp). I would only consider going as far as Puffin Island or Red Wharf Bay and back. Are there any other Ribsters planning to do this?
Thanks
KND

Unless its flat calm I can envisage a few smaller boats
running from Ty Calch/Caernarvon through to Puffin, following the flotilla looking at boats etc then heading back. There'll be more water in the bridges and strait on the return so navigationally it will be easier than the journey through.
Kerny has a 5.5m aircraft with a 60hp on, so he'll be in a similar position.
Come play! We're a friendly bunch.

Hi KND and welcome, not everyone will be circumnavigating the Island, but if you did fancy it and the sea state is good you would not be left alone we will all be sticking together "safety in numbers"

Indeed, Kerny is often shadowed by TT and myself, at some point he'll need towing of a sandbank by TT or need "refreshment" from our crew to keep battling on!
For the purpose of this thread and cruise, for those who don't have 2days to read all the posts, most boats will be launching at Ty Calch at Chris's. The evening do too is in Caernarfon.
Departure 11am on Sat 28th April. Heading anticlockwise round the Island. Boats at Menai or Beaumaris need to be in the water waiting by 11.30, or you may miss the pack coming through.
If too rough on the NE of the Island. We split or all head back, before or after Puffin Island, heading back down the Strait and round the SW side of the Island.
HP,kerny, hadd, Pikey Dave, discomick, IndyR1, nitrox, Neil Mccrirrick, telcowilliam, Rocknrolla, Chris Caton, straitman, kawasaki, yoyo, bradosh, Tiger, Asswakr, Festinghouse, Pow2gran, Andyhendersonuk, 1978searider, Ronin, Phil riley, Silverfox, Ribeyemick, shaunholland, cookie, Jeffhutcheon, chris262112, bilksem .... from Belgium! RMS, Tony T, Europa, ribcraftsteve, Nikal, natalie and "friend", Luke sharples, dragon hawk ficht, next chapter, KND, Alan Priddy?

No worries, as you know, we always have spare fuel of both types for those in need!! Never run dry of either on a trip yet!
We'll be taking 2x 70L inboard and 2x 25 L on deck. 190L allowing for 2L per mile for rough weather.
Also 24L of alternative fuel to keep crew motivated!

That's a lot of sticking if we have 25 plus ribs.
some will blast off some will enjoy the scenery and fall behind the pack.
Maybe a few of the smaller ribs should pair up I don't mind hanging back if anyone wants to Join me.
If there's a chance everyone can get round nothing wrong with having 2 sweeper boats or is it everyman for himself ? What channel are going to use HP best let everyone know or have I missed that bit over the 2 days I have been reading this thread

No it's not every man for himself, yes some party's will do there own thing but the organisers e.g. HP and yourself will be making sure that everyone is okay just like you did last year. Simples

we did the first half at a comfortable 25kn ish on our camping weekend. The second half on the Sunday was ahem! considerably slower. Saying that, Hadd managed it in his wee predecessor to Mr Jingles, you'd be surprised what even the smallest boats can tackle.
