I only take notice of forecasts two days before and even then they seem to change. Anything over 3 days with a bad forecast usually means it's going to be good!!

Cherbourg Visitors

Attached is a low res scan of some pages from the Cherbourg Marina Guide, which I picked up earlier this year when we sailed over there, which I hope is helpful. if you want a higher res version emailing (9mb) them pm me. We went to the excellent naval, subsea, diving, Titanic and nuclear submarine museum which you can walk to from the marina (20 mins or so) and well worth visiting. All being well I will be around the needles on Saturday to see you off! Spence

Should be the same as attaching an image. When compiling your post go to manage attachments and upload as usual

PM me and I'll email it to you instead if interested. it has some basic port info, map of marina and useful telephone numbers etc.

Dunno if anyone's putting a passage plan together, but looking at tidal flow, departing Needles around or before 10:00 local would put the crossing into slack water

Ooops pressed the wrong part of the screen! Sunday departure based on same idea is around 12:30 local (accounts for GMT +2 in Frog). Stream from west in both cases. Any advances / views on that gratefully received!!

Passage planned but weather not playing ball

Saturday now looks doable but Sunday now looking a no go. Different web sites offering different opinions. Forecasts changing every four hours and are swinging back and forth.

We'll know better Wednesday PM and will make a go / no go then.

T Shirts arrived today so we've got to go some time this month

No pdf attached,

Yes you can attach a PDF using the paperclip icon if you click go advanced in the editor (and you have the same editor I have).

However, it has a max filesize of 600k which for scanned PDFs may be a tad low. if multiple pages.

Could upload to a document sharing site and link to it. DropBox?

I'm still thinking Wednesday is too early to make a decision. I bet if you decide on Wednesday then the forecast will have changed by Saturday!

The wind guru app suggests the troublesome low pressure system will blow through leaving lighter airs on sat and Sun. Met office is not as optimistic. Too early to predict where it will move to at the moment.
