Can't believe I missed this thread, though being a newbie, I would have loved a go at this, especially with the numbers going.
I am away that weekend, please post the adventure with pics etc
Regards

Spoken to marina in Cherbourg this morning, should have plenty of space as they can take 250 visitor vessels. However they will need confirmation by email one week before we are due to arrive. By then we should have an idea of how the weather is looking and who is going.
Those who are planning to pop over to Cherbourg on the 12th its only 4 weeks away. Therefore might be worth checking your passports, Insurance, ICC's (unless your licence includes an ICC), SSR registration, EHIC, flares in date, proof of VAT paid etc. Dont want to get there and upset the Officials if they decide to ask for the paperwork.
gentlemanracer added to the list - think thats 9 RIBs as some people are jumping on spare seats

Seconded on all of that, especially the proof of VAT paid, they always want to see that. No need to bring the EHIC though, it won't do you any good whatsoever these days
Put us on the possible list please, we won't book a hotel 'til the last minute but we will try and keep the boat relatively accessible to make this a possibility. Would be fun especially with these numbers Though obviously we would be coming from the other direction..
The hotel Chantereyne is nothing to write home about but it is literally just next to the marina, and very practical. There is also a hotel Mercure within walking distance as it looks like the Chantereyne is nearly full!
Restaurant wise I can't really help, we've never found anything exciting around Cherbourg so far. Just round the corner Pikey Dave usually has a mean mackerel bbq going though!

+ Blue Ray - We'll be sleeping on-board so won't need a hotel. might be +1 (ie 2 people total for the evening) if Rick is available to come.

Hi Gooner
ICC - International Certificate of Competence, more details here
About the ICC | The ICC and Proof of Competence Abroad | Boating Abroad | Information & Advice | RYA
Distance to Cherbourg from Needles about the same as around the Isle Of White, which you know well
If the weathers good for the two days and your Kit is serviced and in good order no reason why you can't make it across.

This looks interesting. Just reviewing what I need - would have to apply for icc but could be tempted with our 5.3 humber.

Yarmouth for the UK side and Cherbourg for the French side both do petrol and diesel (normally).

Excellent ajstars, have you booked any accommodation. One of my crew has had to drop out and has just canceled his room at the hotel. Might be worth checking today what vacancies are left.
