Dave, as you have had more success than me with Glen Mona, can you book me two doubles when you speak to them again.
Called Conway slip and they tell me it's £13/boat. Douglas HM has confirmed no problem for the weekend and there are two options for rafting up. The prefered is in the outer harbour, out of view of kids etc, and has sea access at all times. But this is further from the town than the inner.
Passage plan Conway-Douglas-Conway will be issued shortly for comment to some poor unsuspecting soul.
Gary, it'll be good to see your new RIB. Have you got it wet yet?

Do I need to book a room for myself and my daughter, or is it "in hand"?

Happy to pay whoever is doing the booking.

Just as a thought, how about a pre cruise weekend around Anglesey 21/22 06 03 to visit the two day Zapcat racing in the Rhosneigr area?

A full compliment of RIBs would be an added attraction.

Finally, where can I get dry boxes and carriers to fit my 2" dia single tube "A" frame?

Hi folks

I am still here just sick of c**p weather stopping me getting my boat antifouled and back in the water

Just hope we get some good weather soon, or was that nice 5 days at Easter the summer over

Regards Gary

Gary,

It doesn't look too good down here for this weekend either - they're giving yet more unsettled weather, and it doesn't seem that they know what the sea state is going to be like yet either. Although, if the wind picks up, and comes round to the SW, it would be fun trying to get out through St Annes Head

Did you get any coating on last weekend, or are you waiting for a solid 2 days of dry weather before attempting?

C'mon Gary get that boat up here. Iffy forecast but a brilliant day today - sunshine (Fx was for rain this afternoon) and just a bit of a SWesterly really really nice!
You watch - I'll get rained on tomorrow

Yup, the forecast wasn't right.... it has been a cracking day here all day after all..... a small SW breeze, and quite warm in the sun too. My Humber has been itching to get out on the water, but at least I got rid of the rusting zinc coated screws that I bought on the cheap and have now replaced them with proper stainless ones - hopefully the aerials will not drop off now

With any luck, if Gary has been down here today, he should have got some of the antifouling on his boat....

Dave..... We're covering for 30 long boats rowing down from H-West to Neyland tomorrow, so it's also bound to rain at some point. I daren't look at the windspeed, but being right up river shouldn't be too bad.

Gits, it's been pishing it down all day here. Infact we've had that much rain, if I did have a boat, I could have gone down the shops in it.

keep it over there Matt-I don't do wet!
Honest it was brilliant blue sky and sunshine and what are we, say 50 miles from you? I thought summer had come back.
BBC fx for tomorrow here is 13 mph sw and a black cloud with a raindrop and some sun-hedging your bets type forecast! It was the same for today but only 8mph was forecast.

The day didn't start off too bad, went really bad though as the day went on. Heavy rain and hail during late afternoon/early evening. God knows what it's upto now.

No worries about it moving from here to you, Oldham's a magnet for crap weather.

Hi Alex, Dave

the weather is needed to get the hull epoxy/antifouled.
While its out of the water I want to get this done, save to cost of two more lift ins/outs.

Plan is to come down next weekend for four days to get things finished, but again is subject to weather.

After that the next nice weekend we get (as in sea state not rain/sun) its time to bring it back to fleetwood.
Need to bring it back soon as need to have it up here for the IOM trip. Also Neyland is a bit too far for a couple of hours when we fancy a quick spin out

Will let you know Alex if we are coming down Friday night.

Regards Gary

IoM is alive

I am alive, but I can't raise Ian at the Glen Mona

An acquaintance tells me he's painting 24 hours a day at the moment as he's had all his rooms refurbed over the winter and the builders are behind as usual!

I haven't spoken to him, but the ansaphone must be full and his PC must be smoking!

If you guys keep trying during the day, you may have more luck.

Jon

PS

Actually started my engine today, but by the time the mighty Chelsea had stuffed the whinging Scousers we had scudding clouds and horizontal squalls, so have decided to go to pub on foot, rather than by boat which was the plan!

When are we going to see some sun!

Passage plan from Conwy to IoM

Looks something like:

Leave Conwy

Heading 330 Magnetic (better check this!)

Slow down before hitting large rock in about 45 NM?

Call up harbourmaster on Ch 12.

Leave dolphin on left, small castle (and two green cans) on right, watch out for ferries and turn left into Douglas Harbour.........

Tide flows northwards on the flood, south westwards on the ebb.

Can be bouncy off Douglas Head in wind over tide conditions.

Is that enough detail?

Jon

All seems to have gone very quiet. Are we all still going?

Do I need to book directly, or is someone taking it on for a group booking?

Dave, have you had any success getting Glen Mona again? I have had no reply to phone messages or e-mails. We may have to look elsewhere to stay!

Windchill, we are just looking for accomodation now, as far as I am concerned it is still on, and a number of others are on the list as well.

IOM is a runner

Ian IOM is a runner for us for sure.Have just spocken to DM and he hasnt booked anything yet as he thought Wittingham was doing it.

I have put a call in to Hilton for a deal SAT only as I got a £140 per night room for us both at £50.00 in the Copthorn for us both this weekend for Rib Net meet.

The Hilton are comming back to me tommorow morn so I will post the deal as soon as it comes through, unless you have any better sugestions as it seems the glen mona is a bit slow on this oppertunity.

When the deal is posted you will all have to be quick as it will be based on our party getting 5 rooms and will proberbly be there best deal. Its good for the children as it has a pool and all that stuff.

I will personaly run with the deal if it is around £70.00 per room for one SAT night as i am told the retail is £203? bye the receptionist.
I would be real happy if it is £50/60per night but will let you know.

If this range or hotel is of interest please let me now ASAP

Good for me. Glen Mona don't seem to want the business so we should go elsewhere. Look forward to your post, when you have some details.
