(Not the) Nacho Run 8th Jan 2023

Hi Guys - this year as the first Sunday in the year is 1st January, the concensus is to have the nacho run on Sunday 8th January (rather than on 1st Jan). As people will start from different places, the only fixed (ish) point is meet in Yarmouth (IOW) at about midday, and have lunch in the Wheatsheaf. They don't do nachos any more, but calling it the "burger/carvery/anything else on the menu" run just doesn't sound the same! I'll be starting from Southampton Dry Stack at about 11am in Black Adder. We can try to pick up boats between Southampton and Yarmouth, but typically it's better if boats try to get into smaller groups and meet up in Yarmouth rather than attempting to arrive en-mass.
We'll (probably) use VHF 72

This is also on Facebook groups "Team Scooby" and "Solent Boating", and anyone is welcome as it's really just an excuse to get out on the water.

Hi Trev,
Trust you are well and had a good Christmas.

Thanks for thinking about this.

I'm up for it - providing the weather is much better than it has been recently!

Tides are good for launching / recovering at Hamble Point which will be my jumping off point 1150 HT, 1735 LT.

Cheers

LT

For those going the tide flow is easterly in the morning pre about 1100 and then turns westerly until around 1600. As it is springs, any SW wind will make the return trip quite sporty. The following weekend may be better for tides although possibly not for launching.

Forecast for this weekend not looking good.
Sun better than Sat, but still wet & windy with 2m waves from the forecasts I've seen.

Not worth the tow for me unless I can be certain conditions will be good enough to launch / recover and have an enjoyable run.

Another time.

Those hardy souls (if any) who do brave the conditions, enjoy but stay safe

I've a rare spare weekend as rugby is off but alas the forecast is such that I'll not be able to get over.

Enjoy if you do get out folks and look forward to seeing you all soon.

I'm still planning on going - last year was similar conditions and only 2 boats went to Yarmouth. Some who started turned back just after Cowes. I'll be surprised if we get many making the trip.

Well enjoy if you do get out, but stay safe

I'll look at the weather for next Sun and if good may make the trek if conditions are favourable ...would be nice to get out.
