oban area cruise/camping advice

We're going for a trip for 3 days taking in oban and ardnamurchan, does anyone have any suggestions for an itinery? Places to camp etc? Was thinking of going up to tobermory and staying there a night then heading further north the next day then back to oban on the third day. Any advice would be most welcome!

Oban/Tobermory

Lots of boats do this and head west/north if the seas are calm or into Loch Sunart if the weather is less clement..
You may like to consider other close by options - see Easdale RIB Rendezvous thread and info at www.easdaleribrendezvous.org.uk

If I remember right there's a small campsite at the top of the hill in Tobermory, I wouldn't fancy it on foot it looked a fair old walk. The SYHA right on the harbour is nice and cheap but gets busy, brilliant handy for the pubs and chip van though. There's a free campsite in Calgary Bay, a bit of the machair set aside by the council for tents with a small toilet block and a bus stop. Lovely location, there's an old pier on the north side of the bay as well though I don't know what state it's in, I've only ever come in from the land side. There's another campsite down from the ferry slip in Fishnish, I thought it was a bit naff, all prim and proper, even astro turf over the tent pitches.

If your still looking? theres a nice campsite in craignure "mull", got a free slip and they welcome boats, they have large accommodation tents pretty cool, it is only 1/2 mile from seal colony. www.shielingholidays.co.uk
