With 6hp I would go to the slipway at barrow and launch there. Just a couple of miles downriver from the bridge slipway.
Its gonna take a while from Knott End and the tide run will be fairly fierce from what I remember of the tide you're going on. Morecambe Bay is not to be messed about with on a big tide if there is any amount of wind forecast. Blowing a F6 today on a small tide, we didnt venture out of the end of the R Wyre channel. The bay was errm ...interesting!
The plaice fishing off Walney island was exceptional at one time, but as with the rest of the Irish Sea the good old common fisheries policy has ****** it up completely. A few bass over there for those in the know.
If we are free we may well have a run over for a look see on your day....but we do try not to do inclement boating.
