Thursday definitely looks like the plan if you have the choice!

I'll be out an about in Poole tomorrow anyway, and need to pull the boat back onto it's trailer late afternoon before heading back to London. So if any of the Poole-based folk are launching on Wednesday and either want a small local cruise, or to try and go further, let me know.

Inside Poole Harbour looks nice and flat, and has been slowly getting better during the morning. A slightly chilly wind, but I'll head out and have a play now!

I didn't want to be a billy no mates either, but did fancy heading east, so just followed the coast along to Hurst Point and back again. I wasn't actually hungry, so didn't bother going right in to Yarmouth for lunch! Slightly lumpier in Christchurch Bay as expected, but otherwise very pleasant in the sunshine, with a slight chill in the wind.

Only slight downside was getting back to Poole to discover an engine bay full of exhaust soot... It was fine when I checked it in Christchurch Bay, so suspect one of the exhaust components let go, at least partially, on the way home. Will have to try and clean it all this afternoon and investigate, before no doubt calling Graham (Yam man) in to have a look!

OK - Rick's coming with me so there's no way I'll be that early (he's on Student hours, which I don't think includes anything that time of day).

We'll see you either off Calshot or at Yarmouth (at the Wheatsheaf I assume?).

I see from Marine Traffic that Grey Mist has AIS, so I'll be able to check where you are as we head down the Itchen.

Trev
(I'll monitor VHF Ch8 and 16 unless I hear otherwise).

Yes, I did think about trying to stay down for Thursday, but given I'm out in Moscow next week, really need to be back in London for a couple of days! I hope everyone has a great day up in the Solent.

And clearly now, I won't be going anywhere for at least a few weeks anyway. The flange on the exhaust riser had corroded and sheared off partially, such that the cooling elbow was no longer connected to it, and exhaust was just venting into the engine bay. It can only have been doing that for 10-15 mins though, as I had checked things not long before. Have spent an hour cleaning all the soot out the engine bay, and it now looks fairly normal again. I already have a wet elbow in stock as I was planning to replace that this season anyway, clearly now I just need to find a decently priced riser as well.

Enjoy the Thursday weather!

Trevor

yes GREY MIST has AIS for transmitting as well so you will be able to locate me. I will monitor CH8. Hopefully I will get up early See you tomorrow. Lunch for sure at the Wheatsheaf

OK guys some of you for sure missed a very good day on the water. A bit nippy but the sea conditions were superb. I joined a pack of ribs which launched at Mercury in the Hamble and I ran with them to the Needles. Nachos for lunch at the usual Wheatsheaf in Yarmouth and running back to SDS with Trevor

Glad everyone had a wonderful time and the weather cooperated so perfectly! The photos make it look like a great gathering.

I look forward to joining a future event, am off to Moscow tomorrow so sadly not around for the Nacho Run.

Make sure you have the right clothes . I guess this is not your first visit so you are prepared. I used to go when it was the Soviet Union but not had the chance now as Russia. Those were the days . Each visit was a new experience.

Only my second time, but yes, plenty of warm stuff packed!

Love the videos - was clearly a great day out.
