Post Lockdown Channel Islands

Ladies and Gents,

Wifey and I are planning (subject to COVID) a late May early June trip to the Channel Islands for a week - weather permitting.

Just off the cuff, we are hoping to

Day 1 - Depart from Yarmouth IOW early on day 1 and cover 123 NM to Jesresy stopping for fuel and lunch on Alderney.

Day 2 - Jersey to the Minquiers and or Isle de Chausey - back to Jersey

Day 3 - Jersey to St Malo for some fine seafood or Cap de Carteret weather depaendant. Back to Jersey

Day 4 Jersey to Geurnsey - Relax and Rest. Back to Geurnsey

Day 5 Geurnesy to Herm and Sark. Back to Geurnsey.

Day 6 Geurnsey to Alderney - R and R plus Turbot Fishing. Back to Alderney

Day 7 Alderney to IOW and home.

Very fluid, no rules, weather dependant of course. The Big bonus is Jersey Sea Safaris https://www.jerseyseafaris.com/
The best rib charter on the channels are happy to share local knowledge and steer all in the right direction with regard to weather, tide and potetial run outs. Thank you Richard!

I have fished the Channel Islands with Dad extensivley. We always plan for 7 days but usually the weather dictates a shorter trip to make the weather window home...

Will post further, closer the time and the more the merrier, full trip, part trip or just meet up in the evening for beers - all boatists welcome.

Dale

I’m from Jersey. Couple of hints.

I think Carteret is better than St Malo and a fair bit closer. Minquies is lovely on the sand bar but L’echreos is also just as nice.

Give us a shout closer to the time and we’ll meet up.

Best of luck

Funnily enough I suggested this last time i got together with my fellow boating friends (back in the good old days when you could meet 5 others outdoors!). We are looking at slightly later probably late June early July and would be 3 or 4 ribs with possibility of 1 or 2 bigger boats as well all based out of the Hamble. A couple of them were a bit nervous about it but personally, with good planning and a weather watch can't see too many problems especially being in a group.

We’re going again this season ( subject to covid..... ). Nothing to be nervous about, a little sensible prep, also traveling in company is wise, and don’t set a date, pick a weather window.
One of our favourite jolly’s, the islands are stunning. We hired a car last time and spent many hours exploring, the abandoned and untouched WW2 fortifications are amazing
