Yep, and petrol at a more reasonable price than you southern wusses pay.
My suggestion for destination would be Malahide, just north of Dublin, which has a secure marina with diesel/petrol supply. Pontoon berthing was about £8 a night two years ago. Plenty of B&B's, good selection of pubs and some of the best looking women in Eire. Don't forget to take some Euros with you as the Dubliners seem to lose the ability to add up when changing money.

"The Dart" goes from there into the city centre for a good pub crawl and some low life. I'm sure some of the other Dubliners like Gavin and Tim would test the drinking ability of some of ye softer UK ribbers ( Whiteshoes excluded as he'll drink more that the lot of us put together).
A trip up the Liffey would be interesting to see how many stones would be fecked at the ribs !!!!.
Paul
PS pic of dublin Bay showing the north wall up to Howth and in the very top right hand corner is Malahide.
and a pic of the river liffey which flows through Dublin. The left of the Ha'penny bridge is Temple bar - the main night life center.
O'Connell bridge the major bridge in dublin with much history attached to it

Destination
Is it to be Malahide or Arklow, remember also marina in Dunlaoghaire, where we are, brand new marina in progress at Poolbeg and also Dublin City Moorings, to be honest Malahide has it all, excellent Marina heaps of space, pubs restaurants etc etc and as Paul says the Dart, however as there is a refurbishment of the track I dont think it runs into Dublin at weekends for now on north side of the river, Dun Laoghaire is crammed, Poolbeg, only has some berths, no facilities, but if the numbers wernt too great Dublin City moorings offer a large single pontoon on the river.Malahide means 5 min walk from the marina, sees you in the picturesque village of Malahide, lots to do and see here and great for food, pubs etc, I kept my last rib there and I would thouroughly reccomend it.To make contact with the marina phone 0035318454129, ask for Daminen or Barry, Dun Laoghaire contact 0035312020040.If you decide to visit Malahide its a 6 nm trip to a fantastic but private Island called Lambay, approx 4nm to Howth where there is a club operated Marina, great pubs and food, 1 nm outside the harbour is another Island and from ther you can be in Dublin Port in approx 15 mins by boat .
There are some pics of the marina and islands www.dublinsislands.com pics below show Malahide Marina and leaving the river in Dublin, ribs entering the port of Dublin are advised to stay south of the channel buoys on entering and leaving, it gets quite shallow on entering Malahide there is a dredged but badly marked entrance to the approaches to the Marina, aim to arrive after absolute low water, ribs never have a problem, sailing boats reguarly run aground, it is a muddy tidal estuary, lowest I have seen is about 1.2 m this is fine, but if easterly winds are blowing on the approaches you must take care, as I said ribs have no bother atall , but I would suggest trying not to cross the sand bar for the first time at low water, Howth gets shallow also at low water, you are fine if you stay within the red and green poles, Dun Laoghaire no problem, at any tidal aspect and the river, due to bridge works is deep as far as you are able to go, before the construction signs become evident and you have to turn around.
Fuel is available petrol and diesel in Malahide and Dun Laoghaire, Malahide are not allowed dispense petrol tro a long line to a boat below, they are with diesel not petrol, they have both however, Dun Laoghaire can dispense either tro long lines, Poolbeg and Dub city Moorings probably dont have fuel, marine two stroke is available on sundays in Dun Laoghaire I am not sure if the chandlers is open in Malahide on saturdays, we dont have opti oil, or at least dont know where to get it in Dublin, coffee food etc available on the river in Dublin, and remember fuel is approx 99 cent euro petrol per ltr aapprox 93 cent euro per ltr diesel

Working on 3rd now so can't make it!
NWR 'Clubhouse' still open on Friday evening for those staying, unless you leave from Holyhead.

Disappointing news, Ian, and sorry to hear you can't make it after all the effort you put into planning the event.
Just to let everyone know that I shall be organising a mid-winter cruise from Pwllheli to the Outer Hebrides, probably in late November, incorporating pub crawls in Benbecula and North Uist. So, if you'd just like to spend a few weeks sorting out amongst yourselves the relevant logistics, it only remains for me to wish you good luck and God speed - unfortunately, I'll be mucking out the dog kennel and washing my net curtains that weekend and won't be able to join you.

I am definitely up for that! However, when you then change the date to the one weekend that I cannot make it, due to winter migration "Darn Sarf", then I too shall wish you " Bon Voyage"...

Hi all,
I've been out of circulation for a while, it looks like most people have cancelled. Is anyone still up for this? I'd still like to go.
