Redbay Ardbeg Cruise 2011 - Sept 3
Saturday September 3rd is Redbay "Ardbeg Day" - Linky.
It's a return day trip from Cushendall to the Ardbeg Distillery on Islay.
For all the obvious reasons, it is Relevant to my Interests. I gather that there will be Lunch (thus ensuring the attendance of donegaldan) and a distillery tour (that's me onboard). My only previous experience of a Redbay Cruise was a similar trip to Gigha and I'm still laughing when I think about that one. It was a great day and all sizes of boats and crews took part. My being towed home merely added to the merriment
All welcome but yer gotsta be driving a Redbay. This presents something of a difficulty for donegaldan and meself, driving as we do an Avon SR4 and a Quicksilver beachtoy. However, while I was walking the shop with JK last week, I noticed a poster seeking volunteer test-monkeys for destructive testing of the new Yanmar ZT-370 leg* on the Redbay Stormforce 850 Prototype...
So we're in - unless Gary flogs her in the meantime (horrible boat, wouldn't recommend her to anyone for anything )
* Someone broke the previous ZT-350 leg ( )

Hmmm I could pass mine off as an Avon having found how much gaffer tape was holding my Port Toob on, but Mrs 9d might notice if I nick the telly out the living room to make it look like a redbay console so that's not going to work.....

What is this Willk? You getting prior experience and hours in before 5th and 6th??
Maybe you might offer someone a lift since he hasn't got a Redbay either - and Humbers aren't allowed?

Big jump from the Quicksilver and I need a bit of helm time on a proper boat. I could use an extra pair of hands that day, if only to stop me checking the transom wheels are down before beaching her at Ardbeg. All dependent on her still being available of course.
I suppose you'll be staying in yer luxurious static with the sea views?
Yeah, no Humbers. It's amazing the lengths some will go to to sneak in though!

If you could use the pair of hands mine could be available! Providing the boat is still available.
As for the static with sea views - that might be arranged also believe it or not!!!!
PM me and we shall see what can be done

Jeeze Willk, looks like you replaced me with Tony, a real drinking partner.
Not that a sober man in Ardbeg is any good anyway ....
Might just hang about Redbay and borrow the company 85 :-) during the day.
It's always worth the trip for the Harry's Burger, as everyone is aware how much I like lunch... hmmmm.......

Dunno. He hasn't passed his Quality Crew test yet... how does that go again d-d?
oh yeah, overhand haul a fooked Redbay 850 up to the anchor against wind and tide off the arse end of Jura. Dislodge said 10kg anchor and, oh, 10m of 8 milly chain from seabed and hand haul it across oversized tubes from 30M.
And only get a Scooby Snack for his pains.
Sound familiar?
(he can sit on the engine box )

Sounds all too familiar.
Always wondered why you didn't ever have windlasses in your boat.
guess cause you had a d-d !
Sounds good so, Redbay 850 plus reclining lazyboy installed on engine lid for Mr Mac. :-)
Suppose we will be feeding him tea and scones while beating a path for Ardbeg at 30+ incase they run out of single malt whisky ?
Dan

LOL - reminds me of my mate Maurice.
willk: "Maurice, would ye fancy a single malt?"
Maurice: "Actually, I'd prefer a few of them!"

And they better be fruit scones at that!!!
Of course if you had a single malt on board for the trip that would negate the need for tea!!

Funny Tony, never figured you were a fruit cake, but when it's self confessed, i'll assume its the truth.
I'll leave you and Willk to accept Jambo's challenge and drink Ardbeg out of single malts, I'm wayyyy more interested in a single blonde :-) Much worse for your health mind you, and a whiskey may not give as bad a headache the next morning :-) but thats the young and foolish side of me !

I'll be doing no swallyin' at Ardbeg, exceptin' a wee wan to pass meself. I have a terrible fear of Rathlin throwing itself in front of me on the way home. Actually, Rathlin owes me a pint from the Gigha trip. I left it a pint of seawater from my base layer and I got nothing in return.
All to play for so
