RIB cruises for 2020 - is there a list?

Hi all,

I am looking to sign up to as many Rib cruises as possible in the new year, ideally through this site. As such I was wondering if there is a list of those planned for 2020 or whether there are ones which are regular and happen each year?

So far I am on for the 5th Jan Nacho Run, and the Easedale Rib Rendezvous in May.

Many thanks,

There isn’t a list as such. A formal list would imply some form of organisation & all the liabilities that come with it. Most events are ad-hoc get togethers where everyone is responsible for their own safety/arrangement/fuel/accommodation etc. Many events are private affairs that only make it onto the forum after the event. The best thing to do is keep your ears open for the public get togethers, & eventually you’ll get invites (assuming you’re not a numpty[emoji6]) to the more adventurous closed trips.

I am doing a refit on seafury so wont be ready for the nacho. We will be doing the Red Sands Forts in the spring, when it warms up a little and we have all system running and now what we are doing with them.
Always interested to know what happening in the south east(ish) areas.
OK....so whats the Easedale rib thing.

Keep an eye on the forum - not only is there loads of events in and around the south coast (air shows, Cowes week, power boats, fireworks, America’s cup, round the island race etc etc - all worth seeing out on the water ) but you’ll also see a few rib trips that are generally open to all - either local jolly’s or long distance adventures..........

I will be going to the Red Sands Forts, starting from Greenwich on the Thames. Not sure when, as I am working on the boat at the moment. Also want to do the Wight.

I can travel with the boat, so have no problems in launching somewhere new to me. Keeping my options open and up for ideas.

I am also planning to do Red Sands Fort maybe March or April time, I was thinking of launching at Leigh on Sea but that could change. I am all new to this too so any advice is most welcome.

We are launching at Greenwich, so the trip to the forts will be about 40 miles one way. We have never done the forts or been this far..... so a bit of an adventure.
I am not a novice and Sea Fury was used for diving around the south coast.
Its undergoing a little bit of work at the moment and should be ready for end of February.
Who will be with you, my two sons will be with me.....as I seem to have the wallet.

We often do the Thames, but looking to meet others and venture.

I am up for joining in if thats okay, I can be fairly flexible on dates.
Not sure who is coming with me, probably one of my friends as my daughter is probably a bit young!

If i was to launch at Greenwich I think I would need to buy some more fuel tanks.

Where abouts do you launch from at Greenwich? Is it the Yacht Club?

There are a number of mariners along the thames, But non that I have found do petrol. Its all diesel.
I have just fitted a larger engine and will be doing some trials to see whats used. I have a 100 litre built in and 2x30 litre aux tanks which can be added, if required.

There is the Annual Pasty Run normally in May / June that aims for Looe or Salcombe depending on tides.

Great RoyP

Ribtecer

I have been involved in boats for years. Along while ago I bought a 5.5 inflatable for diving (Not into clubs) and fitted a spare 40 Evinrude to it. Then came along a 50 Merc. The wooden keel snapped after a few years so I then had it converted to a RIB. Last year I fitted a 90 mariner to it and then decided it was time for new vhf, gps etc. So its now getting all the bits together, fitting them and then test running.

Also looking to get it retubed as the sponsons are 30yrs old and the tapes are showing signs of wear etc.

So as for the make..... technically its a Chinook 5.5
