No, the increased coverage was FOC. I did my CEVNI with the swot sheet next to me but found that the questions were familiar as I had seen them many times whilst practising the test online.

LOL at that. Even if we did all do it with an air of open-bookedness about it, GD and myself both got 100% on all of it. If you don't, regardless of you having a clearer conscience, we will be better than you statistically at the CEVNI endorsement. Infact let me rephrase that: " your score will be lower than mine"
Incidentally, I just ate some home made waffles - yum!
(for relevant and interesting posts about the CEVNI endorsement test from GD and myself, please refer back to page 2 of this thread. Both myself and GD are endorsed for inland waterway navigation )

Got my website back on line now, I needed a break from it after losing 5 hours work in the blink of an eye
On the off chance anyone bookmarked it, you might need to update.
Here's the link to the Paris page again:

Remind me to update my links later, when I am not stuck in an airport.

Thanks, more to come!
Still got plenty to do, I forgot I did have a weather & tide page before I lost my work, trouble is I didn't think to arrange my template so I got room to add more nav buttons

Just a few thoughts after my trip to Avranches at the weekend: (i) Night sailing in a rib is pretty desperate; we'd do well to avoid it if we can, (ii) the idea of sleeping on the rib after a long day is a complete non-starter; I was cold and knackered after just 50nm and all I wanted was a shower, food and a warm bed. (iii) In the afternoon I walked from the centre of Avranches to the Grouin du Sud at the mouth of the estaury. The round trip was 12 miles and I was on death's door by the time I got back. This would be the equivalent of having to fill a 225 litre fuel tank from a garage a mile away using two jerry cans; a nightmare scenario, believe me.

Night passages are ok, but they need a very different approach.
Sleeping on a RIB does sound bad, I have done camping by boat which is fun but not as part of a 9 day trip.
Carrying fuel is ok if you have the luxury of time, by all accounts we wont so it would indeed be a nightmare situation.

Depends on the RIB
Pardon me for intermeddling in your plans, but it sounds to me like one of you lads needs to shoot over there some weekend and take a shufti at the facilities. That or get on the blower to the local Marcels and see what your options are.

Night
Video taken last night on my way back in to harbour.
Not much to see as it was pitch black. Sea state was moderate, it was nice to see the lights of the harbour come in to view.

Where's the fun in that. Spoil the excitement and anticipation of the trip. Already tried emailing them anti-ros bifs, but they've changed their addy and I couldn't get through.

Nice one Avocet. Funnily enough, I received my CEVNI-endorsed ICC today as well. I'm still waiting for my ATIS number from Ofcom though. By the way, just keep nagging your other half; she'll cave in eventually.

That's what I'm working on!
For ATIS, I applied online through OFCOM on the Monday and got their reply with confirmation of the number (your MMSI with a 9 in front) the next day together with the Notice of Variation. It's then just a matter of printing off the Notice of Variation (of which I've laminated a further copy since a paper one won't last five minutes on the boat!) and I've saved an electronic copy on the computer.
The radio went to ICOM and was then returned by them about ten days after (it would have been quicker but the radio needed some additional work as well).

I've just phoned the marina at Port d'Ilon. We can buy petrol there (95 octane, not 98) with a credit card but only during opening hours; i.e., no 24hr self service. They recommend we give them a few days notice of our arrival so they can make sure they have enough petrol in their tanks. I said we may need up to 1,000 litres.
