Hard core man, I look forward to the gen. I may be in Cherbourg on Friday; pity you lot are a day behind else I'd buy you each a sérieux.

I've had a shocker, got a possible blown motor 70kms short of Paris. Had to abandon in a little marina and carry on with Erin. Still trying to get someone to look at it but not easy in a foreign country. We're on our way back now so I'll either be going back at a later date to carry on or back with the car and trailer although that won't be without it's own problems.

F*ck, what a p*sser! Sorry to hear that Matt. I'm sure Martini II will be safe until your return. Still, what a nuisance; Christ.

Where is your rib exactly?
What do you need?
I'm not close from Paris, but i can try to find some help from someone who's living near your boat...

Now back in Rouen and have been welcomed again by the Capitain like some long lost friends . We only met him 3 days ago on our upstream passage. We've now got the hang of this river malarkey and the locks. The slight current has helped our downstream speeds and so far over the whole trip we're averaging about 1.05 to 1.1 litres per mile with the 4 strokes. The 20kph/11kt speed limit is just a bit too slow and inefficient, but we're managing to keep on the plane at 15kts which makes a huge difference. Very little other traffic on the water. Passed a couple of other UK cruisers in Paris but otherwise it's just been a handfull of barges. Only 95km of river to go

Some, but not enough...
What kind of help do you need?
What is the problem with engine (or engines?)?
One of my friends is living on a boat in Poissy, very close from Conflans Saint Honorine, where your boat is.
If it's possible to drive your boat in Poissy, he can check it every day...
Do you need help to call or speak to the engine repearer?

Antoine,
I think the boat is ok where it is, we're now in Rouen as Erin says, so I can't move the boat. It is moored at www.boatparadise.fr
The guy there is a Mercury sales dealer called Gerald, tel. 0146999850, doesn't speak english so difficult for me to speak to him. He had a quick look and think there's been a lack of oil damaging a bearing possibly. He said he would get an engineer from a service agent in Paris to look as it's near the engineers home. But that was yesterday and I've not heard back.
I believe the engineer is from www.paris-marine.com "Espace Mazura" but I don't think they speak any english either so I haven't been able to speak to them to find out if they have looked at it yet.
Maybe if you could speak to either of these people, probably Gerald at the marina, we could find out what's happening?

Le Havre was for fuel, Honfleur was the planned overnight stop.
On arrival at the lock we called Honfleur VTS who informed us that the lock was closed .(No sh*t Sherlock )
Avocet: "What time does it open?"
VTS: "June"

Keith, are you and Matt back yet? Right, just seen the photos so I guess you are. In that case, when's the slide show evening?
