RIBEX Saturday
Grimalkin (Mrs A and I) and Gold Rush (both out of Poole) are planning to leave at 9 am to go to Cowes on Saturday for a 10 am entry to the RIBEX exhibition. The plan is to see the exhibition and then take Bogi (and all others of his party who want to come) for lunch. Weather permitting Ventnor looks good for tides and shelter (round the East side of the Isle to avoid the forecasted SEerlies) for lunch before returning to Cowes (possible cicumnavigation if SEerlies ane not so bad?) and back to Poole. The 'Jolly Sailor' at Bursledon is an alternative.
We'd love company, so all comers welcome. Let me know.

Might be up for a late lunch on Saturday, but don't know my plans fully yet so don't want to get tied down to specific times.

Help if I put this in the right place !
I am aiming to be out of Christchurch around 9 am & then a slowish cruise up to cowes . I suspect you will quickly overhaul me as its due to be a bit breezy & rough so I will slow down abit but I should see you out there. Will have the radio on & listening out for you .
Alas I have to back in Christchurch by 2 pm ish latest to be able to get back in on the tide .
Pete

Well - left Christchurch at 8.30 - cowes at 9.30 - left at 11 - back home at 1ish ! It was very very rough round hurst & across the bay . Had to 'tack' up the solent as even at around 10knts I was airbourne on everywave.
Even worse out of the solent- forescast is saying gusting gale 8 - I was at the limit of my ability , but the boat never seemed to miss a beat .
Moments of ' oh s**t' and thinking about reaching for the radio to call Yarmouth AWLB to shadow me back to Yarmouth . Should have known better !
Unless there is a significant drop in wind / I wont be going out tomorrow - just not fun ! - maybe Sunday !

It is very choppy out there. Went accross to Cowes early this morning and been suffering with back pain ever since! At least the sun has come out. The show feels busy for a Friday. Heres a few piccies. Some nice boats here!

very testing - my legs have seized ! I heard one exhibiter say - 'not a good day for tests' - an another ( at 9.30 am ) - 'I've already stuffed it !'It was ideal for the ' big boys' that were there - I should have taken one of the arctic boats back !

We got there about 11 ish from Chichester
Rough , but worse on the way back Chi bar was big
not sure what i thought of the show, it was nice to see people that i havant seen for awhile
but to me it felt like a lot of empty wallets walking round (mine inculded)
I liked the 6.5 mt Scorpion and the Corbra which looks like they are getting there quality issues sorted.

Slight tweak of plans:
We (Grimalkin: Mrs A and I) are still aiming to be at Ribex for 10 am on Saturday but without Gold Rush (other commitments).
Ferrying of kids also means that we've got to back in Poole by 4.00 pm which leaves Ventnor a bit tight, so are now planning on staying longer at Ribex and having lunch in Cowes (possibly Yarmouth?) with Bogi and his team.
Scurvey Crew (Jonathan) and I are wondering about lunch at Ventnor on Sunday (by when the "Rough" sea state should have moderated to "Slight") and a circumnavigation of the island.
Anybody else interested?

I had fun driving the RYA rib on Friday but it was a big one with twin Hondas on the back so not much the Solent could do to upset it .
quite fast as well ,seems as though there are more expensive ribs there this year liked the look of Gregs Quinquari Humber he has for the round Ireland race very nice .
And the renegade ribs designed by Adam Younger were very well put together and looked the dogs .
Show seemed quieter than previous years although talking to a few sellers it seemed enquiries were up on last year .
At least the weather has been kinder today Saturday for everyone .
Tim

The renegade 720 looked great with funky stainless seats On the water they performed well and cornered like it was on rails anyone else try them?
