River Severn Cruising.

Hi all,

I frequently cross the River Severn on the M5 near Tewkesbury and notice lots off boats sailing up and down.
This got me thinking about taking my Rib along the River.
Has anyone tried this before?
Do you need to register with any authorities to use the river?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Mark

Years ago i used to take a ski boat down the avon from tewkesbury and go up the severn to upton,as i remember you could buy a day licence from the lockkeeper for a fiver,it's probably gone up now.
He always used to eye the outboard though and tell us not to speed!!

Where do you get in?

Went out yesterday on a mates 24ft Sail boat around the Severn - dead calm though so under power! 6hp is not the same as 115!!!! still had a good day lots of RIBS buzzing around. Here are a couple of piccies showing how dead calm it was! Not a ripple on the surface so unusual for the Severn!
