Is there anyone interested in a day cruise from Conway to Caernarfon via Beaumaris and Menai on Saturday 14th May 2005? We have a measured amount of local knowledge down the Menai Straits and surrounding areas.
We thought we could meet at the public slipway next to the Conway Marina (excellent parking available) at 10.30a.m. to depart between 11.00 - 11.30a.m and head for Puffin Island off the East tip of Anglesey. (We may be lucky enough to see some of those little Puffins!) We would then head down past Beaumaris, Bangor Pier, under the Menai and Britannia Bridges, past Plas Newydd and onto Caernarfon for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1.30pm where we can tie up in the River Mouth next to the Castle and swing bridge, shops available (toilets available too!).
On the return journey we would stop at Beaumaris where you can visit the RNLI station, or shops and refreshments and toilets available nearby.
The last leg will be between Beaumaris and Conway so estimated time of arrival in Conway will be 5.00p.m. - 6.00p.m.
We have chosen the 14th May because high tide is approximately 4.00p.m. so all of this cruise will be done on an incoming tide, and we will be recovering ribs on the concrete slipway.
Weather permitting this should be an enjoyable cruise. For those who might be nervous about the Menai Straits don't be because we will be there to guide you through!
Come and join us and let's show those Southerners
