Round Anglesey for Macmillan 14/15 May 2016
I am planning to arrange a Round Anglesey Cruise in aid of Macmillan Cancer and propose the weekend of 14th/15th May 2016. Previous events have been well supported and I hope we can attract a large number of boats this time as well. I will personally commit to donate a minimum of £5 for every rib or sib taking part in the cruise.
This weekend is good for launching from Ty Calch if there is a big turnout. The tides are neaps leaving plenty of trailer parking on the shoreline. It should also prove less busy than bank holidays and hopefully a little warmer than April. Other launch areas on the Menai are Beaumaris and the slip at Menai Bridge. I will be launching from Ty Calch near Caernarfon using Chris Seddon’s tractor launching services.
The intention is to cruise in company with similar sized ribs with the emphasis being on enjoyment and not racing. As with previous cruises, everyone is responsible for their own safety, planning and preparation.
I was planning to run clockwise around the island, leaving between 10 to 10.30 am from Caernarfon. There are numerous places to stop along the way including Holyhead, the Brickworks and of course, the Gazelle. Total distance is about 80nM.
On the Saturday evening for those interested, we could get together for a drink and/or something to eat. Fu’s (Chinese) is a suggestion – any other suggestions welcome.
Even though there have been differences in FB and RN, my intention is to post on both. It is open to everyone! Please let me know if you are interested.
Looking forward to 2016!
Nick

Well done Nick for organising, I have already provisionally booked these dates last time we spoke so I am hoping to do this event but I will confirm nearer the time.

I would love to have joined you all but I'm running the Plymouth to Looe Pasty run on the Saturday and won't be able to get up following that.
Good luck.

im planning on joining you, though as normal i will be launching from holyhead - it has however always worked best for those from holyhead if the cruise runs anti clockwise as its a shorter run to meet everyone else, so not quite so early for us to set off! if anyone else wants to join me for the run from holyhead then let me know.

F. I had looked at the tides and was following them around. I guess we would be up towards Holyhead around 11.30 to 12.00. Let me know though if I've got it wrong though.
