Tim, I agree with Jeff, and this is no reflection on your efforts or the efforts of anyone else involved, but as the idea was to raise money for MacMillan then are the local press etc aware of the cruise? don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking anyone's efforts, n I'm certainly not volunteering myself for anything, been there done that got the tee shirt n not doing it again for anything, but if MacMillan are going to really benefit then the only way to raise the profile is via the press

Surly even if nothing was raised, the awareness, and getting the charity on people minds is the main thing.

The sight of all the different boats in Conway on a busy Saturday will look amazing, and if the weather is nice the amount of people who will see this and the charity name will be worth it all.

The way it's been arranged has been brilliant, and the people who have sorted flags, t shirts and the evening bash in there own time need a really big thank you.

I think the 'rounding up' of the flags, t shirts and meal tickets has been a really good idea, as it's given some money to the charity and not out priced everyone, or made the weekend really expensive.

If everyone going has a flag, got tickets for the evening meal and puts the cost of a pint into the bucket I'm sure Macmillan will be very happy and appreciative!

I'm not knocking that at all, I'm happy to donate, buy the flags, etc, n why wouldn't I after the last two years I've had, all I'm say is for MacMillan to get most out of it the are the press aware?

totally agree mr caton the cost of radio / Granada is nothing/ and the money we spend is nothing it does not mean anything . its about publicity and awareness and we sitting here do not know when this can hit us . and if Macmillan makes one pound out all of this my god so many of us has done some thing we never would have been involved you know what we can put our name to it and say we tried

could not understand how you can say you agree with jeff but say we raise awareness by local radio stations that does not cost us a penny . we are trying to make them aware of the local cruise , believe me its not as simple as it sounds when you want it for a donation , all we can shout is Macmillan

What's your plan for the banner after the event?

Just a random idea, but could we all sign it as we launch then raffle it off at the evening meal thing?

Round Anglesey for Macmillan Cancer Support - April 19th 2014

I understand where some people are coming from but unless you do it and get involved yourself why criticise.

Certain people have put a lot of effort or money into doing something to both raising awareness and £ for a charity. I thank them for that.

Those who think that's wrong or wish to pontificate or criticise that we or they could have done it more efficiently, so be it.

However if I wish to spend any amount of time or £ to raise even £1 or make 1 person aware of a cause, doing something I enjoy, without taking money under false pretences or funding my activities, I will.

I look forward to the cruise and meeting people. If others have enjoyed it, please make a donation to Macmillan directly or through Whispers just giving page.

At the same token:

Aaaaargh. Animosity, upset, offence is the last thing anyone wants. That's the trouble with text rather than F2F, let's all calm and regroup to the same cause! We should all get perspective and hug it out on the day.

It's late and I've had a beverage....

+1 Been off all afternoon in the garden and it has been beautiful

Just a reminder for everyone who hasn't launched there boat this season to check trailer chains and winches aren't seized / rusted up as during the March cruise somebody's (not saying any names ) had seized up and it slowed up Chris's usual super duper efficient launch process by 25 mins

Looking forward to this cruise and I am going for a shakedown tomorrow on the straits

Pretty blowy today around the island but strait sheltered. Typical Westerly. Bleak weather.
