Cheers for the info.
So an AVERAGE 1.52 and 1.54 liters per mile, what was your average speed ?

Guess that would be a) difficult to measure accurately and b) misleading if done mathematically due to time sat still at idle and varying weather and location (canal etc)
A more general skipper view of the cruising speed they tried to maintain in open water would be more useful If imagine.
Edit: answered :-(
That's quite fast I'd have thought, say for Gilles in a smaller boat......

Figures can be misleading and for sure very difficult to compare as weather conditions, weigh of rib , HP of engine and persons on board will have an effect as well. When I compare the above figures to those provided by the 999 Challenge team I see that with a much heavier rib, 320 HP diesel engine and 6 persons on board at any one leg and their average fuel consumption was still better.
One must also bear in mind this is diesel engine against petrol engine

That's really apples with pears ..
Even the Watershed was running more economical than the large (petrol) RIBs .

Speaking of economy, I believe the Targas used VERY little fuel after Inverness...
If you include them in with the Parker - that makes four out of five failed diesels on recent RB challenges. Last months RI attempt saw diesel failure end the attempt - I was surprised but it makes a brighter outlook for outboard owners

Sorry - counting engines not boats - rumour was two on one Targa, one on the other and then one on the Parker. Was there another?

Now let's be fair about this the diesel on the Parker rib failed but she completed the Challenge as she crossed the line in the Solent and she went RB all the way , solo and up to 10 hours a day with six persons on board.

I guess this was directed to me.
There was a team of 10. 2 drivers of the vans so they did RB by road
of the 8 members only 2 went round all the way the other 4 were taking their turns. So for those 2 it was RB all the way.
There was only one RIB and she went round all the way
sorry Alex I did not mean to highjack your thread just answering your question.
