Shelter from rough waters maybe?
Strong westerly tomorrow, sticking to the lee side would be a little flatter.

Wish I had been! Hope this went well for you (I'd have stayed away from Rathlin as you'll hit the McDonnell Race - depending on tides) but other than that - Primo

Those Targas are brilliant, closest thing that incorporate live aboard and luxury to the lifeboats in my eyes. Love one. Yes the big big ribs are cool but over about 9-10m and with the weight of cabins and interior the inflatable bit becomes a fender.

1. There's bu@@er all luxury on a Targa - they're cramped and the (caravan) seating is pants. The accommodation is coffin-like and the helm is in the middle of the galley, or vice-versa.
2. They're not that hot in a "bit of a sea".
3. It takes the output of a minor Arabian State to keep one underway.
4. They're a DAY behind the RIBs

Go easy on him Willk.... He doesn't need the helm the Cardinal Mark virtually never moves. The Arabian State needn't get excited about fuel sales - he virtually never goes out. and he used the phrase
"Live aboard and luxury of the lifeboats"
Now I haven't been on a Shannon. But I've been on a few 1980's 1990s lifeboats that were in service. If I was drowning I'd be over the moon that one had come to save me. Would I want to spend a week on holiday on one? Would I sh**e

Looks like Huw and Mike have made in to Croabhaven tonight, just 20 miles short of Oban. An amazing effort - 275 miles - one heck of a long run from Wexford this morning.
