This year there is no waiting, there is one hour between 10:30 & 11:30am it's up to everyone to be on time.

Small ribs are encouraged to leave early and the larger ribs or people with engine knowledge are encouraged to run towards the back.
Understood 👍

I understand the new arrangments ( your second post explaining the revised times etc ) are encouraging the slower boats to leave earlier , I guess I was just making the point if a larger, faster rib was to leave prior to some of the slower boats then a await is inevitable, possibly entailing enough time to have a brew no offence in any way ment - whatever happens it will be a blinding day for a great cause

Was floating around hurst and the needles last weekend when 1600 yachts all managed to negotiate the solent, if they can do it I'm sure a few RIBs will manage

Hi Fender,

I've had to look at 5 yachts this week that didn't "manage to negotiate the Solent" last Saturday!

Got to love the RTI 😀

Hi Whisper do you think its worth mentioning some safety advice in the form of a post just to remind people;

1. Its not a race
2. Watch your distance to other boats, dont follow in someones wake too closely and dont cross other boats bows too closely.
3. Be aware of your wake especially its effect on smaller boats
4. Wear a lifejacket
5. Wear a kill cord
6. Take a VHF with you
7. Suncream - wear it
8. Water - take some
9. Have a great day

Yes you have just done it

Also if someone could bump my cruising in company post from two years ago that would be great. I'm down here at Biffs with only a phone

Off out boat testing soon

Man, that's painful! Speaking from a recent experience (not snapped) you have my sincere sympathies

Late notice I know, I'm suddenly free tomorrow and would love to do the trip again , but won't be able to get the boat there

Anyone looking for crew / passenger for tomorrow, for a fuel contribution, naturally?

Coming from Gloucester, Calshot / Southampton / Warsash / Portsmouth would be my best RV points

I've already made a donation in support of the cause.

Drop me a pm or probably better give me a call 07743 322835.

Thanks,

Bob

They had to use my big toe tendon to bridge the gap, so I've now got a floppy toe too!
It snapped jumping off the rib in kimeridge car park so SWMBO had to tow the boat back to Essex and she did an amazing job!
Not our best weekend away.

Thanks for the sympathies, have a great trip tomorrow😀

Thank you so much for organising again Alex.
What was the boat count, as we didn't hear once we had left Sandown, and any update on how much was raised today ?
Sorry to not see you at The Needles.
Kind regards
James

Did everyone get round? The leg from St Catherine's to the needles was probably tough on the 4m boats.

Thanks to Alex & helpers.

Time for me to go and donate!

I was in a 5.4M Searider and found it a little bit lumpy going from Freshwater heading round the Needles.

Was amazed though that I only used 30L of fuel!

We got round - although it was pretty lumpy. Luke (age 14) did very well in the 4m and despite the conditions Rory had a sleep for about 40 mins!
