Well done for hitting the target which I guess could be at least doubled by the time of the cruise

Well my predictions were correct

I will still have a few passengers so more cash will be added to the pot and I guess new donations will be made.

Extra boat now running with you. I am turning out as I had planned with our new RIB and will have a reporter on board who will do an article "story on the actual day, a feature on the “cruise in company” as a social feature".

I have also asked for some bids from two/three companies involved for the charity so I will update as I hear more.

During the run I hope to have some images done on the new boat and its use, I have asked for some friends to join me aboard and hope to have some more spaces too. I will run from The Hamble.

Unfortunately I won't be able to join you in our own RIB however I'm still interested in joining you.
Would anyone have a spare seat so I could tag along? I'm 17 years old so could be an eager cabin boy/deck hand I have my own Go Pro style camera so I could do some filming.
If anyone could offer a seat I of course would donate extra for the opportunity.
I live in Cowes so Ideally if I can be picked up there it would be great, however I'm sure I could meet elsewhere on the Island.
Any opportunities would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I gave both engines a service today and run them up, all seems to be tickety-boo

It'd need to be flat calm to tempt me across the channel just for a lap of IOW but you might see me there

300nm round trip...3 litres per nm at cruising...90ish ppl...hmm.... :o

Can you not get a ferry over and jump on a rib?

And the fun in that would come from where exactly?! Worlds worst rib passenger me!

Seriously though, it's been a couple of years since I've been up north, would be nice to get the beast over and get a few more ports logged on marinetraffic.com!

Hi there,

Still getting used to my rib and rib ownership as have only had it for a few months now. Am planning to join you all around the island and very much looking forward to it.

However like some others have a big question mark regarding fuel consumption, i have a 90hp 2 stroke mariner circa 1990, and a 100 litre fuel tank built into the console, would that be enough fuel to go around the island? At the moment I only have a 5 litre can for spare fuel which is premixed for the back aux engine that i have.

What doesnt help is the times that i have been out on the rib i have been enjoying opening up the throttle, doing turns and generally wasting fuel but enjoying it but also getting to know the characteristics of my rib.

If this isnt enough i need to think about buying myself some more fuel containers, either in the form of cans, or a fuel tank with bulb and connector for the engine. I do have a syphon tube that i can use to top up the main fuel tank. I havent purcahsed one up til now because i read some threads on here about people having trouble filling up cans in petrol stations etc.

What do you guys think? Appologies if this is hijacking the thread etc.

As you're worried - a safe plan would be to start full and reckon on re-fuelling when we get round to Yarmouth.

You should be able to get all the way round and then some on 100 litres, but topping up in Yarmouth will bring you piece of mind.

Hi Ralphy, take a look at the document here http://bit.ly/XKWPro
There are a few boats out of IoW that are declaring seats available.

Maybe you can PM a couple of folk and secure a place. It would be good to have you join in!

As usual my family are not as enthusiastic as me about the idea of an expedition - so my attendence is not guaranteed

Sorry guys, circumstances have conspired against me-can't make it due to some unavoidable non boat related issues here.
