Help needed. I've been unsuccessfully trying to find crew the last couple of days from friends, family and workmates. I did have a boat load but I had one crew member that dropped out of Sunday's trip and the rest have followed suit.

So I'm looking for up to 3 crew who are willing to make a contribution to macmillan.

Leaving Haslar in Gosport at 9am for meet either at Wootton or the Forts.

I really wanted to take my Osprey Sunday, but if I can't fill it by Saturday evening I'm going to ask forum members if I can have a place on their RIB so that I can make bigger donation myself.

I'm leaving from Portsmouth Camber, if you need picking up from Haslar, I can take you to Whisper (Never Met But Guess You Have) it will save him diverting to Haslar?
Let me know.

Thanks for the offers guys, I'd like to take you up on your kind offers but will make the decision Saturday, once I've exhausted searching for crew.

I'm still hopeful in taking the Vipermax as it'll be a chance of getting as many Ospreys together in one cruise and of course in a mark of respect to Roy.

So come on, who wants a seat or 3?

Thanks for your kind offer Jedi. If I do meet up with Whisper I will drive over to Warsash to meet him.

Would still be able to rendezvous in Portsmouth if I managed to gain a crew by then.

I know Andy (Hightower) well and he's a top guy and ribber so this is a great opportunity for a seat

RIBase
As many of you will know to raise money for Macmillan I am helming the complete circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight in a variety of Ribnet owned boats.

The original plan was to do the 55nm split between 11 boats so roughly 5nm in each rib. Unfortunately it looks like 4 of the 11 will not be able to make it on the day due to unforeseen circumstances.

It's still doable in the remaining 7 ribs but means I have to helm around 8nm in each rib which is taking up more of the helming time in each owners boat.

If anyone else is prepared to let me helm their boat for a part of the trip (with the owner onboard next to me) it would help spread the load on the others.

I hold a commercially endorsed Adv. PB licence and regularly drive a variety of ribs and hard boats so will take care of your pride and joy and will not abuse it (and you will be right there next to me).

So far I am up to around £260 pledged and still growing for Macmillan and will be giving Whisper a cheque on Sunday

Let me know if you can help by letting me helm you rib for a few nautical miles of the trip as I really need to get all the way round to put this money in the Macmillan fund.

Thanks

I'm looking for (at least one) crew for the trip, leaving Port Hamble approx 9am on a Ballistic 6.5.

If you can help out with a hand please PM me - otherwise I'll be left waving at you all from the shoreline

Poole/Christchurch Departures

With the forecast indicating a calm enough sea for my poorly back to withstand, we're still planning on making it on Sunday.

With access from/to Parkstone Bay Marina available between 7.00am and 5.00pm, I'm planning on launching Grimalkin on Saturday evening so as to be able to leave before the marina opens on Sunday.

The list of boats show three starting from Poole (although I know of at least three more 'possibles') and three from Christchurch. I am currently thinking of leaving the marina at 8.00am with a RV off the RMYC at 8.15. That should put us off Christchurch around 8.45 (or slightly later after allowing for faffing) to meet up with the Christchurch boats.

We'll be topping up with fuel in Yarmouth around 9.15 which looks like being the sort of time that the Yarmouth/Lymington boats will be setting off.

Does that seem reasonable? We'll be monitoring Ch08 and Ch16 and MMSI as opposite.

Looking forward to it. David.

Sorry to sort of hijack the tread, in response to the tragic padstow accident and various threads on here, we have prototyped a Killcord clip system.

We have 6 of these available and will bring them on Sunday RRP will be £5.99. These are made using marine grade S/S "D" rings and quality webbing with Velco to attach on itself around the leg. However on Sunday these will be on sale for £7.00 with £2.01 per sale going to Macmillan.

For you Ian Stainless Self Tappers...
For others they use Velco which when wrapped around the leg secures them firmly... one size fits all..

How about handing over all the money from these six? After all, it is a fund raising effort and if they are any good then the exposure should help you to sell more than enough to make up for it!
