Full circle with another thread, it would be a good article for a RIBnet mag

Update

Ladies & Gentlemen.

I am sorry to have to report that the story done for the Charity on this Round IOW trip where we had the reporter with our boat which was to feature in Powerboat and RIB magazine shortly afterwards still remains unpublished.

We had talked of the review and report being completed and in the magazine before the Boat Show or even in The Southampton Boat Show version. This was then delayed to the next copy which was due out very soon so I checked and this is the reply I have obtained

"Hi Ian, sorry, but we have had to put the feature back due to wrestling with the challenges of having too much material. It is now shortlisted for inclusion in 117/Jan/Feb issue."

Despite being completed and extra work done by Simon Everitt (reporter)to identify runners and riders for the day, this is the present situation which could still be delayed and I will keep you updated if news arrives.

Might not be a bad thing as it may promote further interest and therefore more donations for the next Round IOW in in 2014.

Im sure the dates for the next Round IOW will be announced shortly

Watch this space, but don't hold your breath, if there was money in it, it would have been in there

Haha....I didn't like to say out loud....

However that's not what we did it for, or the boat. Maybe they can both go in at once?........

Just invite one of the Montgomery-Swan's to participate in next years RTIOW, and let them win (oops I forgot it's not a race). You would get in the next issue

Anyone got dates in mind? - would love to do it again?
Don't make it w/e of 31 May / 1 June - I'm taking the family to do the 100km Ieper marches (well the shorter ones) for the 100th anniversary of WW1. Should be quite an event - it's always a good event even without such a landmark date.

RIBase
Yes knowing the date would be good as I want to block it off in my diary, I'm definitely doing it again as it was great fun (and raised a significant sum of money)

Good luck with getting in the mag, i expect if your not related or it isnt an advert or a re run of past content it might be difficult getting it in. Lol. Why not try one of the other boating magazines it might be easier. I might try and join you next year and will see if i can get any sponsorship monies from a well known company i work for that has just got the rights for the football on tv in a couple of yeqrs, my rib tubes are a similar colour to part of their logo. Lol... It would be worth a try anyway.

Yes this is as certain as it can be. There seemed to be a fair amount happening in May so June seemed a good choice and hopefully more chance of some settled weather (although it was almost perfect this year ).

I've thought long and hard before making any comment about this, but my copy of the mag arrived today, which just happened to coincide with a phone call to tell me that my operation to put my bowels back to normal following last Octobers op to remove the tumour, had been cancelled for the 2nd time. It got me thinking, one of the reasons I renewed my subscription was the promise of an article in the mag re the cruise supporting MacMillan, I guess along with a few others a few bob to the mag may help things along and some good press for the cruise may help with the current SR rebuild and the eventual auction, all in a good cause. now i'm thinking i would have been better just chucking the subscription straight into the MacMillan kitty, would have done more good! I know all about the pressures of page space, had a fair bit to do with landrover / 4x4 mags over the years, still keep in touch with some of them so this is nowt new to me, guess should have known better really. but still, shame on the mag, they always seem to find space to print crap, so shouldn't be to hard to find room for a good news story, or is that the problem, good news don't sell print. anyways, enough of me moaning, it's time for me medicine, that should chill me out for a few hours

I too think it very poor.

Received mag today in post ( I also recently subscribed in anticipation of feature).

No room for a good, positive story about people coming together to raise money, but room to have a feature about submersible craft!

Very Sad

Chris, I've known HMS for as long as I've been doing ribs, he is not a gentleman, if you gave him a rib or advertised in his mag you would get what you want, I've seen it time and again, you look back through articles, you will get a mention by company name if you advertise but get a basic mention. It goes something like this, mr blah blah in his lovely starcross rib with twin 200hp Merck and a blue rib behind, now guess who advertises with him, he hasn't changed, for him there is no interest or value in what we are doing, don't feel bad he's always been like it,.
