Hey dudes

I wasn't involved in writing the article, that was done by a reporter so I don't really know what it says.

I have dropped a note to HMS tonight to offer any assistance and to tell him how our Macmillan rib is getting on

He has always been good in getting back to me, so I'll let you know when I hear something.

Alex

happy days eh Biffer, guess it's just anuuva of life's lessons eh

good one Alex, I don't want to detract from all the efforts being put in by everyone, I hope the mag eventually does the decent thing and puts together a really good article

Biff is a 'wise old bird' who happens to be equally even-handed, and I'd echo his sentiments. Ian's intentions were completely honourable in trying to raise the cause's profile by getting this featured but it'd be a mistake to hold your breath waiting for the article to appear in Powerboat & RIB Mag'. I received a promise of launch coverage for our Rib venture, for April '11 which finally made print in Sept '12, and only then because significant pressure was brought to bear directly by Yamaha !

If there's no direct interest for PB & R or HMS it's unlikely to happen anytime soon ! Would time and energy not be better spent focusing on promotion of 2014 ? (I've several connections in 'media land' that I'd happily approach with a request for incremental coverage if anybody'd care to message me ? )

small rib iow macmillan 29/6 2014

Hey Dude! (whisper) thank you for your reply
So far in team "Scooby" (4 to 5m ribs able to cruise at 20knots)

we have;

Trevor Lawson valiant 450 60hp merc
Bingosucks SR4 50hp Yam
Wibs Avon 4.5 50hp susi
Portland Phil Apex 4.5 30hp susi
Neil H Yam 4.8m 50 hp Yam
Bucksribster Avon 560 100hp Yam
XS400 xs 4m 30hp

Team Scooby's mission statement " to raise funds for Macmillan, to get round, be safe, have fun, support each other (no one gets left behind!)

I like your idea of us setting off earlier with a couple of bigger boats, it is our intention to stick together and support each other. It is our intention to launch together (probably Lymington?) .We will be cruising at 20ish knots weather permitting. With the size of our craft we are very much weather dependent.
Any tips from you guys that have done it before will be VERY WECOME!
  • fuel/navigation/equipment needed etc

I'm in again, joining at bembridge if the plan is clockwise again

If weather allows should we factor in a raft up picnic lunch stop in alum bay, as this year we couldn't all fit in Yarmouth and the tide was running like a bar steward on the outer buoys

Is there a new just giving page?
