Being unfamiliar with Portsmouth, where is the best place to launch from and is there a cost?
What about car and trailer parking?
Thanks

Isle of Wight trip

Yes, we'll be launching from the Camber dock, Old Portsmouth. £2.50 if the barrier isn't open already & £10 parking for car all day. Trailers free in trailer park. ok?

RIBase
I was on the town quay at West Cowes waiting while some clients had lunch, 12:00 until 13:00, and some ribs coming in we're talking about going round the island. I didn't twig until last night when I saw on here that the trip was today. Just thought I may have been chatting to some other Ribnet members without knowing.

I sadly couldn't join the circumnavigation, but did pop up to Yarmouth from Poole with a friend on Saturday, and met a load of RIB's there. Didn't recognise any, but possibly some of this group?

And once we'd come back from lunch, there were another 6 RIB's rafted up alongside where I had berthed!

Whilst quite windy to begin with, Saturday turned out pretty well, and we had a great journey back to Poole.

Ah ha - you should have waved and shouted!

I did start taking parents to Lulworth for lunch, but we got up to St.Alban's and it was getting cloudier and cloudier, so decided actually to head back to Poole and have lunch on Dad's boat in the Wych channel instead.

Anyway, it gave the new turbo some good exercise, but the boat's now back on it's trailer and probably won't be going far for several months now!

Yes, that motor cruiser had been anchored at Pottery Pier, and it's owners gone ashore in their dinghy. Boat started drifting by it's own accord, noticed by an anchored vessel who called it in to to PHC, so PHC Vigilant and the Tyne class launched to try and catch it. The owner also noticed from the top of the hill on Brownsea, and the anchored vessel gave a commentary of the owners running back to their dinghy on the beach and zooming to catch up with their cruiser! By then it had run aground by itself in the PW zone, so the Atlantic got called out as well! The RNLI crew were helping the owner deploy the yacht legs, so it didn't fall over as the tide still had about 1.5 hours to ebb... Haven't been to look this evening, but hopefully it's now been recovered!
